GN by Graciela Naum

Graciela Naum created in 1986, in Palermo´s neighborhood, a brand with her name. Her dna is the tailoring. One of her passions that values both good workmanship and good quality fabrics.

Naum talked us about the importance of good tailoring. And while she explains the main characteristics of the tailoring, she remembers what her teacher told her about the style and clothes worn by the British: “The British do not like to wear new clothes, which is new. It has to have the passage of time and the noble genre has to appear. It has to appear the thread, a worn neck, the wear and tear that gives you the time. It is the antithesis to the new”. She explains that you’re never going to see a British law in white, flawless with freshly ironed clothes. It is well seen that the clothes convey the nobility of the passage of time. And precisely for that reason the whole sport line of GN is previously washed. It is not ironed, it is seated. Feeling that drying sensation in the sun, something that for Naum is extremely important and tells us while we know the new collection.

The winter 2017 collection takes as inspiration four main themes:

Sunday morning: thought about relaxation and comfort is made up of comfortable, oversize, wide pants.

Athleisure mood: the imprint of sport in everyday life.

Military & utility chic: Military inspiration with tailored silhouettes and pinched pants among other items.

Brit revival: classic pieces such as trench or blazers, velvets, pictures and tweeds.

The color palette this season focuses on off white, melange grays, sandblasted pastels, deep blue and green, black and metallic. Also the palette is warm with rusty reds and powdered roses, clays and oxides, greens and plum.

For the presentation of #SelectionByPatioBullrich Naum chose a look in which the spirit of her new collection is concentrated. The look is formed by a white silk shirt with a floppy, black trousers in triacetate with a wide line and a plank, and a coat of wool cashmere and natural silk chiffon. Of the three garments the coat was the only one made exclusively for this selection and only two units were made. Both sold on the day of the presentation.
After reviewing the entire collection, we talked about inspiration and fabrics. Naum confesses that for her triacetate “is the genre of the new generation”. It explains the volume and body of this type of fabric. And it emphasizes that in order to get the best out of it, it has to be of good quality. A fabric she applies in blazers, pants, tops and vests. For her is a noble fabric that does not wrinkle. Undoubtedly, we take note of this last tip.
