In celebration of Mother’s Day, we reached out to photographer and blogger Aditi Mayer, who offered an insightful take on how she and her mother approach the special day with love and style.

Throughout the years, I’ve come to see the ways in which Style has become, more and more, a medium for exchange and bonding between my mother and I.

For me, there has been an evolution: as a child, you’re dressed at her will; as a teen, you rebel against all that she prefers; and entering adulthood, you find your style is beginning to mirror her more and more. Let the closet sharing begin!

Shoes are a natural piece that one shares: their longevity, durability, and timelessness make it a medium for exchange and expression.

In honor of Mother’s Day, my mom and I came together for a photo shoot in some of our favorite Skechers pieces encompassing two approaches: formal and casual, both with comfort (a big must for us both). Some of our favorite looks are the Parallel – Structure sandal and the Livin Dream sandal (at select Skechers stores).

My mom and I are both suckers for added height to any outfit. But if there’s one thing that links us both, it’s that we need comfort. Wedges and platform styles are our best friends. These two styles have quickly become our daily wears, that transcend from our work lives to events. Jackpot.

As much as we love heels, we need our share of the everyday flat — something that’ll translate to hiking terrain, bike rides, and rolling green hills. One of our biggest feats in finding the perfect flat was getting a pair that had aesthetic quality, a color that paired well with many outfits, added support for our flat feet, and a great sense of grip on the bottom.
