Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday is a movement which celebrates and supports the act of giving during the holiday season. This special day harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges.

Rothco is dedicated to giving back to the community, which has allowed us to flourish over the past 65 plus years. Which is why #GivingTuesday - is a perfect day to not only highlight Rothco's charity efforts but to shine a light on the charities themselves and fuel a greater awareness to such worthy causes.

Throughout the year, Rothco makes a commitment to give back to our community with several charitable and volunteer programs, including:

  • Rothco's Holiday Charity Program - For over two decades, Rothco employees have come together every holiday season to donate money to local grassroots charities. For every dollar raised by our employees, Rothco triples that donation!!! In 2017, our Christmas Charity Program raised over $500,000 and for 2018 we have already raised over $42,000. The money raised by Rothco and its employees will go to help several different local charities including The Suffolk County United Veterans Program, Hope House, Pronto, Angela's House, Gerald Ryan Outreach Center, A Mother's Kiss, Lighthouse Mission, and Long Island Against Domestic Violence.
  • This past Thanksgiving Rothco Donated over 70 Turkeys to local food kitchens and outreach programs
  • In 2018, Rothco employees have come together to volunteer over 50 hours of their time to numerous charity events
  • Holiday Gift Program - this year Rothco's employees with help spread some holiday cheer by partnering with a local organization to give holiday gifts to underprivileged children in Suffolk County, NY

Founded in 1976, we are a regional pioneer and leader in empowering victims and survivors, providing them with shelter and support, and working with law enforcement and the community to prevent abuse.
  • General Needs: focuses on providing the basic necessities that are missing in the everyday lives of our homeless veterans
  • Long Island Cares: Founded by the late Harry Chapin, Long Island Cares brings together all available resources for the benefit of the hungry and food insecure on Long Island and, to the best of our ability, provides for the humanitarian needs of our community
  • Answer The Call: provides financial assistance and a network of support to the families of New York City Police Officers, Firefighters, Port Authority Police, and EMS Personnel who have been killed in the line of duty.
Collaboration and community are two key words that sum up Rothco's Charity Programs. As a team, Rothco employees come together to raise money and donate their time to help those less fortunate in our community. #GivingTuesday allows us to reflect on what we've done as a community and what else we can do.
