Ultra Violet gives us the determination to pursue our own passions in this age of barrier-breaking experiments. It stimulates bright character and it let us explore and experiment, as we reevaluate what makes us happy. Ultra Violet is appealing, intriguing, and communicates ambitious thinking. The 2018 Color of the Year favors meaningful direction and guide us toward the future. Let us take a closer look at the colored gemstones that are on trend this year.

Amethyst

The February birthstone, ranges from violet to reddish-purple quartz variety. Amethyst has been worn once by royalties and was as expensive as rubies and emeralds, but with the large supply, the price is much more affordable. Violet Amethyst is more common and so it is cheaper, but the reddish to purple variety is rarer, and therefore a higher price. Whatever variety of Amethyst, it always makes a beautiful piece of jewelry. Regardless of the choices of color hue and the affordability it is one of the best choices for a gemstone jewelry. Designers are using this gemstone again and again as it is very versatile when it comes to designing jewelry.

Tanzanite

One of the newest gemstones on the spotlight is the Tanzanite. It was only discovered in 1967, but its strong violet to blue color is very quick when it comes to popularity. This gemstone is a newly discovered form of the mineral zoisite. It is only found in one place in the world, the Merelani Hills in Northern Tanzania. This is one-of-a-kind for the depth of its hue; it can give off blue, violet, burgundy, and sometimes yellow. Deeper hues are more in demand and the fact that it is only produced in one place makes it incredibly rare. The distinctive, bright color makes this stone feel very modern, making it the perfect choice for everyday wear.

Alexandrite

Alexandrite shows off fascinating color swings, from red to green or even purple, depending on the source of light. This characteristic makes it the most remarkable and popular of all color-changing stones. Just because Alexandrite has the power to change color effectively in shifting light, it has been associated with balance in life, confidence, and the ability to experience great happiness. These ability match perfectly with Ultra Violet’s attributes.

Sapphire

The violet-blue hues of sapphire are the most famous and valuable. But, pure violet colors can also make brilliant jewelry stones. Although violet sapphire may oftentimes mirror amethyst in color, it is more durable and brilliant. Moreover, its price go beyond that of amethyst.

Violet-hued sapphires are not quite behind pure blues in value. Some sapphire gemstones can also display color change, from violet in white light to reddish violet under incandescent light.

Grape Garnet

This gemstone is a rich reddish purple Rhodolite garnet. This was discovered in Mozambique in 2015. When the red flashes from the deep purple, it is quite exceptional, and this is visible in smaller gemstones, gemstones that are quite big do not have this feature, and does not have a similar saturation.
