5 Ways to make the most of your time with your significant other!

Between pursuing my Master’s Degree, focusing on my business and working full time at a rehab center can get pretty overwhelming. My boyfriend Dion’s Schedule is super busy as well, he is a full-time photographer. Despite our busy schedule we always make time for each other.

Making time for your Partner in a relationship is very important. On that note, there is a difference between making time and finding time for your partner. When you FIND TIME for one another, you’re basically squeezing time for your partner wherever they best fit in your schedule. This type of thinking is operation with a “get in where you fit in” mentality. If you operate in this mentality, your relationship may not last long. When you MAKE TIME for your partner, your though and efforts is put into making plans. You find necessary ways to rearrange your schedule and do whatever it takes to see your partner. Those relationships tend to be more successful.

Life can get chaotic at times but there shouldn’t be no excuse why you can’t enjoy time together.   Below are 5 ways to make the most of your time for each other.

  1. Schedule quality time. Make sure you coordinate your schedule so that you both can figure out what time and date works best for the both of you. Dion and I always plan our date nights ahead of time. Plus, planning ahead of time for me, gives me something to look forward to and a chance to find the right outfit. I am a fashionista, and I don’t think Dion has ever seen me wear an outfit twice on date night lol.
  2. Find something you both enjoy. Finding a hobby that you both can share is important because it is a great way to connect with one another. Being that Dion is a photographer and I love being behind the camera, we love working together. We love going out to eat, paining, go to the gym and do yoga. A couple that workouts together stays together LOL. I don’t know how accurate that statement is but it works for us. If I didn’t motivate him to start working out again, he probably would’ve been as big as Rick Ross. UUUGGGGHH!
  3. Silent or turn off your cell phones. This might be a hard one for some, but couples need to learn how to engage more with each other. When I go out, I see couples on their phone and I’m thinking either they don’t like each other or they are just rude. Sometimes you need to disconnect from the world and really enjoy every moment you have with each other. I try to have a “no phone’ policy but that’s impossible at times. We need to work on that more. That text or email can wait!
  4. Getaway: Plan a trip somewhere. Dion and I love to travel. I know traveling can be expensive but if you plan ahead it will spread out your costs. A suggestion that I tend to give people is to save together. We created a separate account just for trips and we promise to use that money just for traveling. Make a goal of $100-200 a month and watch your money grow. Depending on where you plan on going for vacation, determines on how much you need to save a month. It’s annoying hearing people say I want to go to Vegas next month but I can’t afford it. Umm did you plan for this trip? Unless you got Kardashian money I advise you to plan ahead of time.
  5. Volunteer. I am big at finding ways to giving back to the community and helping those in need. I am passionate about children, so I volunteer at a foster home in Boca Raton. FL. I believe volunteering together is a powerful bonding experience. This can create an enormous boost in your level of satisfaction with not only in your relationship but also with life in general. Volunteering as a couple also establishes a foundation of generosity, which is vital in a relationship. This will bring you closer together, you’ll appreciate your partner more, gain a new view of your partner, and you’ll discover hidden skills.
