What is Chamomile tea?

Chamomile is a popular herb known for plenty of health and beauty benefits. The term itself is used for several daisy-like plants belonging to family Asteraceae. The word Chamomile derives from Greek (khamaimēlon meaning earth apple) via French and Latin. In Hindi, it is called as बाबुने का फल (Babune ka phal). Chamomile Tea is a popular method of consuming this herb in regular usage.

Skin Lightening

Chamomile tea has Skin lightening action, a perfect natural method to lighten your skin color. It also tightens skin pores. When used on a regular basis it is effective in reducing dark spots and acne scars.

Additional tip: Apart from drinking tea, it can also be used as a face pack. In a container boil water with three tablespoon of chamomile tea or dried flowers. Filter the boiled water. In the obtained solution add some rose water. Apply this solution on your face and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with clean water, to get a glowing skin.

Treat Acne

Chamomile has mild anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial property. This action can be beneficial in treating inflammatory acne or skin redness during winters. It also helps in reducing acne scars.

Anti-Ageing

Chamomile also has antioxidant properties. It’s the free radicals that damages our skin, and augments ageing. The antioxidant action is useful in taking care of these free radicals, thereby protecting skin tissues and collagen against the damage. Its regular use helps in tightening the skin pores and decelerating skin ageing.

Treats Sunburn

Chamomile can also be used in treating sunburns. Prepare chamomile tea and let it cool. Once cold, soak a towel in the tea water and apply on the skin areas affected from sunburn. Repeat this daily for 2-3 weeks for best results.

Treat under-Eye Dark Circles

Once you’ve consumed the chamomile tea, you can put the leftover chamomile tea bags to good use too. Place the used chamomile tea bags in refrigerator for a while. You can place these refrigerated tea bags on your tired eyes. Remove after five minutes and wash your eyes with clean water. It reduces the puffiness of the eyes, and work miracles on the dark circles.

Treat Dandruff

Chamomile tea can be used to treat dandruff and scalp irritation. Boil water with chamomile tea, filter the prepared tea and allow it to cool. Once cool you can use the solution to apply on your hair and scalp for rinsing.

Warning: Do not use chamomile during pregnancy. Chamomile tea increases risk of miscarriages. Also, some people can be allergic to ragweed, thus, consult your doctor before using it.

Apart from the aforementioned beauty benefits, chamomile tea also has a lot of health benefits. It can be used to treat insomnia as it promotes sleep. Other benefits are as follows:
