Nail Trends From Fashion Weeks That You Need To Try ASAP

Tags: nail style tone

We look at the runways to find the top five Nail colour trends for 2017. You’ll be amazed how some of these trends were a complete no-no for 2016, but are totally on point this year. Also, your favourites like nude, and glitter nails continue to trend on, but they’ve been replaced by upscale versions. If you’re a mani-pedi person, you’re going to love these:

Metallics

Metallics were the rage during Spring-Summer 2017 Fashion Week with models making their way down the runway in cosmic-coloured nails. At Marchesa, we saw an interesting silky pewter shade that was neither gold nor bronze, while faded dual-toned nails made quite the stir at Michael Costello.

Style Tip:

Try experimenting with colours by steering away from the usual gold and silver. The faded two-toned effect gives a nice subtle hint of shimmer without being too loud. Plus, it looks super trendy!

Essie, £6; NARS, £15

Soft Pink

The cloudy pink mani at Altuzarra is on the neutral end of the scale, which makes it perfect if you want something feminine but still low-key. If you like colour that does not overpower, soft pink is for you.

Style Tip:

Try to match your makeup to your nails, or you could also add a bit of shimmer by mixing baby pink with a tinge of gold.

Givenchy, £17.50; Nails Inc,  £15

Pop Colours

2017 is all about high-contrast and high-impact color. The right kind of bright is flattering on many skin tones. So, ladies, it’s time you got out those bright shades, like lime green and bright yellow, because you either go big and bold or go home!

Style Tip:

Bright nail polish looks fresh with a neutral wardrobe or denim. These colours also look best on shorter nails with a squoval shape, and if they have a matte finish, that’s a plus too.

Estee Lauder, £15; OPI, £12.50

Earthy Hues

Earthy nail tones include shades of green and brown that can range from the darkest shade such as a cocoa or olive, to the lightest hue like beige or neutrals. These colours are here to stay for the year and no matter what the season, you can experiment with these shades.

Style Tip:

Make earthy tones pop by accessorising the right way. Both gold and oxidized silver baubles are good bets, and tribal or Aztec print jewellery are strong contenders too.

OPI, £12.50; Wild About Beauty, £9

Greys

Although considered a Fall colour, grey tones were in the spotlight during Spring 2017 Fashion Week with designers like Baja East and Monse models showing off this trend. Black and grey often go well together, thus creating a slick and minimal look.

Style Tip:

Grey tones go well with no-fuss, minimal outfits. Dual-toned nails also look uber cool and stylish.

YSL, £19.50; Giorgio Armani, £20
