Getting Back Into Weight Loss Mode After New Years!

Every year it happens.  People will be on a good roll with their fat loss-doing the workouts and following the Diet religiously and are experiencing great results.  Then Xmas and New Years come along and kind of de rails them for a bit.  For most people these holidays result in a 1-2 week lay off from the gym and diet.  I am not against this at all, as a break in everything is actually good every now and then.  I also don’t expect my clients to be robots either and encourage them to enjoy their time off.  But make no mistake about it, once the holidays are over its time to get back at it, and with even more focus and determination than before!

From Jan to May should be 100% focus on Weight Loss as there is little disruptions for most people this time of year.  I tell my clients to put everything into it and give it a good run so that when summer comes all they have to do is maintain.  Maintaining is very easy and will give you a lot more freedom during the summer as opposed if you are trying to lose weight.

Now what is the best way to get back into weight loss mode?  Well first of all your body is going to be going through mad cravings again for sugar, since more than likely you ate a lot of it during the holidays.  The first thing I tell my clients to do is to start the diet over with the 14 day strict no sugar/carbs.  This will serve a few purposes.  First of all it will eliminate all the cravings for sugar that you have.  Secondly, it will remove all the water and bloat in your body.  It will also help detoxify from all the garbage foods that were consumed over the holidays.  I guarantee that after the first 14 days of the diet you will feel and look much better and cravings will diminish significantly.

Secondly I tell them to get back into the gym ASAP.  Fitness does not decrease that much over a couple of weeks so getting back in as soon as possible will help everything get back on track.  Once a person starts working out, it is much easier for them to follow a diet.  For this reason alone you should get back into the gym as soon as you can.  Exercise will also help you feel better after being inactive for a period of time.

Remember, if you are having a hard time getting back on track you are not alone.  Just focus on doing the firs 2 weeks to one month perfect with diet and exercise and you will be back on track to your weight loss goals!
