Taking It Back to My “Normal” Version of Busy

Ahhhh… I just have to get that out. Relief. I’m done with my insanely Busy time period, and back to my “normal” version of life. Which is still busier than most people’s standards, I’m told.

I’ve been a tad over-committed lately, and work had been months of crushing insanity leading up to the trip to Russia. It took me a week to un-bury myself from having to go “off the grid” for a week without my phone, or access to my email and social media accounts. Then I had two weeks until the race I was organizing, Pike’s Peek 10K. The race is organized by volunteers from the running club, but it’s a big popular 10K in the area. There was a fantastic, hard working team that made it all possible. I was pulling together details and confirming orders with vendors, but didn’t feel able to get on top of things the way I would like, only having two weeks to really finalize the planning. But thanks to the incredible team, it went smoothly!

In Training news, things are going pretty well. Other than the race weekend, I must confess – race directing wasn’t good for my own training or running. I just didn’t have enough hours in the day.

But otherwise I’ve been fitting it in, and honestly I’m kind of proud of myself for what I am actually able to fit into my schedule! Sometimes it’s biking on the bike trainer with a little monkey climbing around me, asking me questions the whole time.

And sometimes it’s a great run or a late night swim at the pool. I’ve been doing pretty well. I’m trying to add back in strength training and yoga, but haven’t figured out yet how to create enough time for both that and my increased mileage for Ironman training.

In “life updates”, that little monkey had Kindergarten orientation, and couldn’t have been more excited!

And so he’s not excluded (because he hates to be left out!), my middle kid egg hunting on Easter:

If one more person tells me he needs a haircut…. yeah, just don’t.

I’ll be ramping back up to more regular posting now that my busy time period is over, and resuming the launch of my triathlon podcast.

So things are going to get really fun the next few months – IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga in a few weeks, then some great IRONMAN Lake Placid prep in June, including training camp. My coach Bob from South Shore Tri Coach is amazing to work with. He takes my crazy life and molds a training plan around it, and makes me stick to it. It’s the right balance of pressure and flexibility!

And because you love my doggie pics, here’s Daisy.

Off to get in a workout!
