There are so many different types of fillers in the Juvederm family it can sometimes be overwhelming for patients to understand the differences between them all. At Utah Facial Plastics, our experienced and knowledgeable providers are able to recommend the best filler to enhance your natural features. It’s helpful to familiarize yourself with the different options they may recommend. All products in the Juvederm family made of hyaluronic acid (HA), water and lidocaine (XC).

What is hyaluronic acid?

HA is a substance that is naturally found in the human skin. As we age, we lose the hyaluronic acid that we have in our skin which then leads to volume loss and wrinkling.

Juvederm Ultra XC: This is one of our most popular fillers because it can be used in the lips, around your nose and mouth and multiple areas of the face. Juvederm XC lasts anywhere between 6-9 months and provides smooth, natural-looking results. When this filler is used in the lips, we referred to it as our “Medium lip plump”.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC: This filler is a more dense formulation of Juvederm and is commonly used in the lips for some “extra” plumpness. It’s also often used for deeper folds around the mouth. You can also expect this filler to last approximately 6-9 months.

Juvederm Volbella XC: We love this filler and so do our patients. Volbella is the thinnest, most spreadable of all of the Juvederm fillers listed. In terms of lips, we call this our “Baby lip plump” because it is so subtle. This filler is perfect for lips and for fine lines around the mouth. Juvederm Volbella XC last up to a 1 year and is FDA-approved for lip enhancement and correction of peri-oral lines around the lips.

Juvederm Voluma XC: Voluma XC is not only the thickest, strongest gel but is also the longest lasting (24 months). Voluma XC is ideal for deeper injections in areas such as cheeks, jaw and chin. This filler adds really nice volume, lift, and contour to the face. Voluma XC is also the first and only filler that is FDA-approved for the cheek area.

Juvederm Vollure XC: Vollure XC lasts about 18 months and is both durable and spreadable. This filler is commonly used to treat nasolabial folds.
