Lip tattooing has been around for years with options for Lip liner or tattooing the entire lips for a lipstick look. With changing times and so many lip looks out there, variety is needed for those who want a more subtle look similar to a gloss or soft lip paint. “Lip Blushing” was created to offer a non-traditional look of lip tattooing that we aren’t used to seeing.

As we age, we start to lose volume and pigment in our lips causing them to blend more with the skin around our lips and that’s where we lose definition. Lip Blushing is done to define the lips and give them an overall prettier tone. This also creates the appearance for fuller more youthful lips without using a filler like Juvederm and Restylane. Many people will actually do a combination of lip augmentation and lip blush for a rejuvenated and “plump” appearance.

The best part about this treatment is that you won’t have to wear as much makeup for lip color. You can essentially put on a lip gloss and you are all set! There are several colors to choose from and you are able to decide on one for more subtle look or something a little darker. The “lip tint” treatment gives you a base tint and you are able to cover with darker lip sticks for an evening look or special occasion.

Although this procedure sounds somewhat painful, a strong topical anesthetic is used to minimize pain. Some people report it being less painful than micro-blading their eyebrows, but it varies per individual. Swelling lasts 24-48 hours and some people may experience minor bruising. If you are prone to cold sores we will prescribe an anti-viral medication like Valtrex to prevent this from happening. The procedure itself takes approximately 2 hours.
