Why You Should Ditch Your Moisturizer and Use Coconut Oil Instead

If you have been splurging on high-end (and overtly-priced) moisturizers and body lotions that hardly yield the same effects as are listed on the labels (is your Skin really as revitalized as it says?), it’s high time to stop and turn to mother nature for proper skin care. Nature felt extra generous while bestowing Coconut Oil with its wide range of benefits, not the least of which is skin hydration and rejuvenation.

What Makes Coconut Oil Beneficial For Your Skin?

Coconut oil contains saturated fats in abundant amounts. 100 grams of coconut oil contain 86 grams of saturated fats, 1.8 grams of polyunsaturated fats and 6 grams of monounsaturated fats.

Virgin coconut oil, which has not been processed at all, contains 92% saturated fats, the highest of any of the sources of saturated fats. Saturated fats in coconut oil readily absorb into the skin and restore the skin moisture, making it soft and pliant.

Coconut oil is also rich in medium chain fatty acids such as Capric acid, Caprylic acid and Lauric acid. These medium chain fatty acids possess strong antimicrobial and antiseptic potential and ward off the skin infections.

Vitamin E is another beneficial component of coconut oil (0.1milligrams in 100 grams of coconut oil). With its anti-oxidant properties, Vitamin E protects the skin against free radical induced oxidative damage and wear and tear process, keeping the signs of aging like wrinkles, lines and creases at bay.

The proteins present in coconut oil help build up the skin cells that have worn down with aging, imparting a youthful glow to the skin.

Coconut Oil as an Effective Skin Moisturizer

Coconut oil has a semisolid consistency at room temperature and melts immediately when applied on the skin, without leaving any residue behind. It hydrates the skin from within, replenishing the skin moisture and leaving it soft and supple.

The skin revitalizing property of coconut oil helps remove any accumulated dirt and sloughed off skin cells, imparting a luminous glow to the skin that is bound to make the heads turn wherever you go.

And The Best Part Is Yet To Come!

  • You can replace your regular lip moisturizer with coconut oil for soft, voluminous and healthy lips.
  • Quit spending your precious money on expensive makeup removal wipes and products. Coconut oil works as an excellent makeup remover. It cuts through all the grease, wiping off every last bit of makeup, leaving behind radiant, makeup-free skin.
  • Leave the job of purging your skin of all the dead skin cells and accumulated toxins and grime to coconut oil for it works as an efficient skin cleanser and scrub. Simply mix some citrus peels or ground almonds in coconut oil and store the mixture in a jar for a natural cleanser that is completely free of any harmful effects.
  • Run out of your sunscreen once again? Use coconut oil instead. Its anti-oxidant property works wonders to protect the skin against the damage caused by UV radiation.
