Does Your Mindset Affect Your Waistline? And Can You Think Yourself Thin?

Most people want to lose weight. They try pretty much all the diets out there. Sign up to different exercise programs but nothing seems to work out right. Well at least for the long term. The stubborn pounds don’t seem to come off. While genetics have an important role to play when it comes to weight loss, there are actually other factors that are just as important. One of that is our Mindset and to think yourself thin.

Oftentimes we focus on how many calories we have eaten, the kinds of activities that we should engage in so we can burn more calories or how often we should be exercising. While these are important, we never really think about how we think about it all. We never think that we shouldn’t be putting ourselves down when things don’t go the way we want to. This kind of mindset can throw us off-track. The next thing you knew, you already succumbed into your unhealthy food cravings and gained back the pounds you worked so hard to lose.

The Power Of Having The Right Mindset

Losing weight and achieving your ideal Waistline is not easy because you can get distracted along the way. Whenever you are going to commit to losing weight and keep it off, it is important that you are in the right frame of mind and that you are 100% committed to the weight loss journey.

Start by setting your own personal goal – big or small. These goals should be attainable, realistic and something that you can be excited about. Achieving the small goals can create that positive mindset so you look forward to finally achieving the bigger goals. Keep yourself from setting unrealistic goals such as losing 10 pounds in 2 days. You may be setting yourself up for failure and you will end up feeling bad for not meeting these goals.

Remind yourself every single day why you are doing this. Having a slimmer waistline could be one of them or wanting to fit in your old jeans. And remember to think yourself thin. If you are a parent you could tell yourself that you want to be healthier now so you can see your kids grow up. Or you want to have more energy so you can have more time to spend with the people you love. All these reasons will help you focus and will help you stay on track.

Do not panic right away especially when something prevented you from attending your fitness class or if the diet plan does not work for you. It doesn’t mean that your weight loss program should be immediately thrown out the window. Take this as a temporary setback instead. If you missed one class today, tell yourself that you can always make up for it tomorrow. Do not give up easily. And when the diet plan doesn’t work, try again. It is possible that the diet does not work for the kind of lifestyle you have. Besides, there are several diets out there and one of them will be perfect for you. Just focus on finding a program that is sustainable.

Manage your stress level. Stress can lead to weight gain because it can trigger emotional responses hence the cravings for sweet or salty food. Instead of giving in to emotional eating, try channeling your negative energy by lifting weights at the gym, join a boxing class or get into a high intensity interval training. It will be far more productive than turning to junk food to release your pent-up frustration.

Surround yourself with positive people – people who will support you and push you into giving your best. They could be people who are going through the same journey as you do or those who have successfully lost weight. Think of them as your support group, people who will be there for you when times get tough and celebrate every single one of your victories and accomplishment. You can never get enough of positivity around you.

Lastly, never forget to give yourself a pat on the back for what you did each day, even for just the little things. Commend yourself for resisting the urge to drinking a soda or for being able to go through your exercise program with ease and without complaining. Keep a journal. Write down everything so you can always go back to it and see how you have progressed.

You can do it!

Just look around you. You will see people all around you who have struggled with their weight at some point of their lives yet they were able to successfully turn their lives around. They are now healthier people and a better version of their old self. Look up to these people and make them your inspiration. If they were able to do it, you can too. You are just as capable of making the change as much as they are. You just need to commit and have the right mindset and to think yourself thin.

The late Napoleon Hill said, “whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” So in the weight loss industry, this would be think yourself thin. Proper mindset will not just affect your waistline but your whole life. With that in mind, you will be able to achieve whatever you set your mind to. Have that can-do and no-excuse attitude and be ready to be amazed at what you can accomplish. Think yourself thin.
