The Ultimate Running Power: Desire

Desire is the Greatest Weapon a runner can have. Not speed, not strength, not endurance, not a crazy kick, but Desire. The will to be great is one of the most powerful forces an athlete, or person in general, can experience. The idea that running is more of a mental game than a physical one is fundamental to this topic. Yes, it is true, runners must have genetics and raw speed in order to be great at any competitive level. However, one's potential can only be fulfilled when desire is used as a fuel. You have to want something, truly want something to the point where you will do anything to get it, before you can be great. Desire doesn't come from outside sources, motivations, or prizes. True desire must come from within. You must desire to run fast, or finish a race just because you want it that badly. Learning to focus your desire and use it as a weapon can take a lifetime for many runners. However, it is something that everyone must try and master. Use your will, use your desire, in every facet of life. Don't let it go to waste, for it is your greatest weapon.
