Lets talk snacks.

Now I love Snacks. In fact, I love snacks so much that if you went through my old blog posts, there is probably a similar post about how much I love snacks.

I don’t understand these people that can go from breakfast to lunch without the need for a pre-lunch snack –> I just can’t do it. I need to have at least two snacks a day in order to function.

What I’ve started to realise is it’s really hard to stick to my calorie goal (1,800 a day) and still have snacks, especially when most snacks tend to have 30g+ carbs.

I’ve found a few that I wanted to share that I am completely in love with at the moment and have made snacking a lot easier and healthier:

Roasted Chickpeas

These are such a great little snack and they are so cheap and easy to do! I got a tin of chickpeas, rinsed them out and then rubbed them with some kitchen towel –> the most time consuming part of the whole thing is to take the shells off but they should come off easy when you rub them. Once you’ve de-shelled them, pop them on a baking sheet and drizzle olive oil over them –> then add whatever spices you want! I did half with a BBQ spice and the other half with paprika. Pop them in the oven at 180 degrees for 40 minutes –> once the 40 minutes is up, turn the oven off but leave them in there for around 15 minutes –> they should be all nice and crunchy.

One tin provides 4 servings –> this will be around 7.5g of carbs and 3.5g of protein

Kind bars

I’ve recently discovered these and they are delicious! They contain whole ingredients, won’t break the bank and really satisfy my Chocolate cravings! At the moment, I am loving the dark chocolate and sea salt bar –> but I haven’t come across one I don’t like yet.

The chocolate and sea salt bar has 16g of carbs (5g of sugar compared to the average 12g!) and 6g of protein.

Frozen Yoghurt

I adore frozen yoghurt but it’s always so high in sugar so I’ve decided to start making my own! I used frozen strawberries and blueberries –> blended them up in my nutribullet and then added Skyr Greek yoghurt and blended that together.

I don’t know the exact macros but the Skyr yoghurt contains 4g of carbs and 11g of protein per 100g –> those are macros I can get on board with!

Protein shakes of the chocolate kind

My boyfriend and I decided to try some different my protein flavours (he’s always bought chocolate brownie and I’m a huge cookies and cream fan) so we decided to go for chocolate orange and chocolate mint. I’m not a massive fan of protein shakes –> they quite often taste too artificial for me but these are incredible!! The chocolate orange tastes just like Terry’s and the chocolate mint tastes like Aero –> obviously they’re not as good as the real thing but they’ll make a pretty decent replacement!

I have two scoops for one shake which contains around 4g of carbs and a huge 37g of protein!

I’m going to be on the look out for more yummy snacks –> mainly ones that help my chocolate craving! If you have any recommendations, please please let me know
