Jose Mourihno has no intention of repeating a mistake from the past and will “”go serious” when Manchester United go to Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Cup.  United are the only side in England still challenging on four fronts. In addition to the FA Cup, they face Southampton in the EFL Cup final next weekend, overcame Saint-Etienne in the first leg of their last-32 Europa League tie on Thursday and continue to challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League, reports BBC.

In order to ensure he clinch’s the four matches, Mourihno plans not to keep his options wide open but make minimal changes.

He has also pledged that he will respect the FA, considering he has in the past been banned for misconduct.

During his reign at Chelsea, Mourihno didn’t include Petr Cech, Frank Lampard and Claude Makelele in his line-up after a John Terry injury. The result was a loss at St James’ Park 1 – 0, a mistake he has vividly sworn to correct.

The United manager admitted that he “threw it away,” adding that “In the same week was Champions League against Barcelona and was the cup final against Liverpool and in the middle of it we had FA Cup against Newcastle and I threw it away, I gambled too much.”

He said most of his attention was on Barcelona and Liverpool. Yes it was worth it since he won against the two but the thought he had thrown the other matches away haunted him.

His resolve is now to either win or lose fairly, “because the opponent is good.”

“We go to Blackburn with that respect. We played already Reading and Wigan from the Championship so the level is not new for us. Plus, it’s one thing at Old Trafford but another thing when you go away.”

The “Special One” is of the opinion that small teams are gaining momentum and slowly catching up with the EPL giants.

When asked why most managers do not value FA Cup, Mourihno said that he has no clue. May be its due to a lack of many English managers with the culture as they should, he said.

He added that perhaps they the foreign managers are yet to be integrated into the country’s culture in his case, he first played against Newcastle, subsequently drawing vital lessons.

“With Chelsea, I lost against a League One or League Two team, but I never threw it away.” The loss was justifiable and so he tries his level best to win the FA Cup since he loves it. He needs a second one.
