Living Satisfied is a Choice

Life is meant to be enjoyable, fulfilling and satisfying; there is so much more to it than just existing or struggling or even surviving.  Living a Satisfied life opens doors to success in every area of our lives.  If you are satisfied with your life, you will have more opportunities to achieve advancement in work, and be able to experience better relationships.  Being satisfied in life is not as hard as you think.  With a little time and effort and more focus on what you want - you'll begin to live the satisfied life you've always wanted.

Life Satisfaction is the way a person evaluates his world and how he feels about where it is going in the future.  It is a measure of well-being and may be assessed in terms of mood, satisfaction in relationships, achieved goals, self-concepts and a self-perceived ability to cope with daily life.  It is having a favorable attitude of one's existence as a whole rather than an assessment of current feelings.  Life satisfaction does not come from money or material things.  It comes from what you do and how you use what you have.  It comes from a positive view of what is right in your life now.

How to Live a Satisfied Life

  • Practice Gratitude  Learn to reflect and focus on what you have and are thankful for.  List five things you’re grateful for right now and make a point of doing this every day.
  • Relinquish Regrets  Holding on to regrets from past decisions can be toxic for your well being, especially when it involves something you can no longer change.  Accept that things in the past are done and gone.  Focus on staying present so you don’t hold yourself back from moving forward in a more positive way.
  • Banish Comparisons  Using other people as a yardstick to measure your own quality of life and personal success is a sure-fire way to make you feel less satisfied.
  • Celebrate Simple Pleasures  There are so many daily pleasures that surround us. Often we don’t notice them if we’re too busy or focused on future goals and lofty ambitions.  Take a few minutes to slow down, stay present and take time to absorb the beauty around you and reflect on the positive things in your life.

Being satisfied doesn’t mean being complacent or lacking in ambition.  Rather, it means being free of the burdens of regret and resentment.  Be satisfied with where you are, and you can generate the positive energy to get where you want to be.  Be satisfied with where you are, and you won’t waste your energy fighting against what already is.  Be happy where you are.  Otherwise you’ll never be happy at all.  Be satisfied with your life, and you’ll put yourself in the optimum position to make it even better.  It’s not that difficult to create a day you can be happy and proud and satisfied to have lived.  It’s a matter of intention, and it’s based on what you do right now.  No matter what things outside your influence may happen or fail to happen, you can experience the satisfaction of doing your best with it all.
