#FeatureFriday: Hamish Bourke aka The Content King

by Nasreen Shaikh |  9 Feb 2018 Its #FeatureFriday time! If you’ve read our last Feature about Nnyl Hubilla, you’ll know that #FeatureFriday is all about introducing you to some of the awesome students we have studying at NZIE. We love the opportunity to showcase some of the cool things they’ve been up to, and get to know them a little better. Today, I’d like to introduce you to one of our Digital Marketing students – Hamish Bourke Aka the Content King.   We don’t call him the ‘Content King’ for nothing. Hamish is ahh-mazing at what he does best – shooting and creating awesome content. If adrenaline sports and the outdoors are your thing – you need to see some of his work! He started his own business a couple of years ago called ‘Huss’ – which now specialises in brand development and creating content for clients. We got the chance to chat with Hamish and pick his brain on why he decided to study Digital Marketing at NZIE: “I grew up in the country and was always out and about on the farm exploring and looking for new fun activities that would give me a challenge. Post high school I got qualified as a builder and worked as a builder for about 8 years. But I wasn’t always 100% happy with where I was at. With a passion for the outdoors and adventure Huss began as an outlet for me to do rad things and get people stoked. As time went on Huss evolved and I began to work more and more on brand development and content creation, this was a place I was excited to be. I produced my first short film for Huss in 2014/2015 (Life’s About Moments) with a number of other good friends and it went on to get the runner up spot at the New Zealand Mountain Film Festival for the best New Zealand film. I was blown away with the response to the project. The next key project I produced was Zones in 2016, Zones EP1 was a trip from Auckland to Queenstown with an amazing crew and our wakeboards. Post the release of Zones we went on to get a TV contract and produced my first feature article for an Australian wakeboard magazine, which has been an unreal experience. The same year I was extremely lucky to receive a regional AMP scholarship for content creation.” I’m super pumped on the future that lies ahead and hope I can do a few more rad projects and get a few more people stoked along the way.” – Hamish Bourke Make sure to give Hamish a follow on Instagram and Vimeo to keep up with his amazing content!
