What is IBPS RRB Exam?

IBPS RRB Exam is being conducted for recruitment in Regional Rural Banks or Gramin Banks. A Common Written Examination is conducted by IBPS for selection of Officer (Scale – 1, 2, 3) and Office Assistant on behalf of 56 Regional Rural Banks.

IBPS RRB Eligibility 2017-18 – Are You Eligible?

As per the IBPS RRB 2017-18 Notification, total 15337 vacancies have been released for Officer Scale-1, 2, 3 and Office Assistant collectively. IBPS has issued some essential conditions for the screening of eligible candidates from a large number of applicants.

Candidates will be able to appear for the IBPS RRB Recruitment Exam if they fulfill the required IBPS RRB Eligibility Criteria 2017-18. Therefore, candidates should be aware of the Eligibility Criteria for IBPS RRB 2017-18 to ensure whether they can apply for the exam or not.

The Eligibility Criteria for IBPS RRB Exam is defined based on the following factors:

Nationality Age Limit Educational Qualification

Apart from these, Proficiency in Local Language of a State/UT is also a crucial factor.

IBPS RRB Nationality

To fulfill the Eligibility Criteria for IBPS RRB Exam 2017-18, candidates must be either:

A Citizen of India Or A Subject of Nepal Or A Subject of Bhutan Or A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India Or A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note- The candidates from other countries other than India should have the valid certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

IBPS RRB Age Limit (As on 1st July 2017)

As per the IBPS RRB Qualification details, Candidates must fulfill the age limit criteria as follows:

Post Minimum Age Maximum Age Effective Dates for Age Limit
For Officer Scale- I 18 years 30 years Candidates should not have been born earlier than 3rd July 1987 and later than 30th June 1999 (both dates inclusive)
For Officer Scale- II 21 years 32 years Candidates should not have been born earlier than 3rd July 1985 and later than 30th June 1996 (both dates inclusive).
For Officer Scale- III 21 years 40 years Candidates should not have been born earlier than 3rd July 1985 and later than 30th June 1996 (both dates inclusive).
For Office Assistant (Multipurpose) 18 years 30 years Candidates should have not been born earlier than 2nd July 1989 and later than 1st July 1999 (both dates inclusive).

IBPS RRB Age Relaxation

According to the Government Norms, reserved category candidates are eligible for upper age relaxation to appear for the IBPS RRB Exam as mentioned below:

IBPS RRB Educational Qualification

If you have completed bachelor’s degree and you’re willing to apply for the IBPS RRB Recruitment Exam, then You must check one of the essential eligibility criteria for IBPS RRB Exam i.e. Educational Qualification.

According to IBPS RRB qualification details, candidates who possess the Educational Qualification as described below will be considered eligible to apply for the RRB Officer Scale-1 ,2 & 3 and Office Assistant posts respectively.

 

Note: Preference for Officer Scale 1 & General Banking Officer Posts will be given to the candidates having a degree in following:

Banking Finance Marketing Agriculture Horticulture Forestry Animal Husbandry Veterinary Science Agricultural Engineering Pisciculture Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation Information Technology Management Law Economics and Accountancy.

 

(i). Qualification for Office Assistant 

Candidates should have completed a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent. Proficiency in local language is essential and Computer knowledge is desirable. Freshers & Graduates with no work experience are Eligible for IBPS RRB Clerk Post.

(ii). Qualification for Officer Scale I

Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University. Proficiency in local language is essential and Computer knowledge or awareness will be a desired qualification.

(iii). For Officer Scale-II (General Banking Officer) 

Candidates are required to have a degree in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Experience: Two years’ experience as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.

(iv). For Officer Scale II (Specialist Officer) 

Information Technology Officer

Degree from a recognized University in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Desirable Qualification for IT Officer: Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP etc. Experience:One-year experience in IT field.

Chartered Accountant

Certified Charted Accountant/Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Experience: One-year work experience as a C.A.

Law Officer

Degree from a recognized University in Law or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Experience for Law Officer Post:The candidate should have two years’ experience as an advocate or should have worked as Law Officer in Banks or Financial Institutions for a period not less than two years.

Treasury Manager

Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or MBA in Finance from a recognized university/ institution. Experience:One-year experience in relevant field.

Marketing Officer

 MBA in Marketing from a recognized university. Experience:One-year experience in relevant field.

Agricultural Officer

Degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Dairy/ Animal Husbandry/ Forestry/ Veterinary Science/ Agricultural Engineering/ Pisciculture from a recognized university or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Experience:Two years’ experience in relevant field.

(v). For Officer Scale III 

Candidates must possess bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent. Preference will be given to the candidates having Degree/ Diploma in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Co-operation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy. Experience:Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Officer in a Bank or Financial Institutions.

Proficiency in Local Language:

For the recruitment of Officer Scale 1 & Office Assistant, proficiency in local language is essential requirement as prescribed by the participating RRBs.

Candidate can apply for one State only. S/he must be able to read, write, & speak the official language of that state. Check the List of Regional Rural bank in India.

The proficiency in a local language will be considered only if the candidate has studied it in standard VIII or above.

If candidate does not meet this requirement then s/he will be given a six-month time duration to acquire the proficiency after the Date of Joining. However, such extension should not be beyond the probation period.
