Supporting the Beauty Industry in Houston

As a whole, the Beauty industry is a lot more tight-knit than many others, and we think that’s what makes it so unique and fun. As an industry, it is a lot closer than many others. Beauty professionals are always willing to help each other out and are looking out for one another.

When Hurricane Harvey swept through Houston it destroyed salons, beauty schools, and other beauty businesses. Supplies and equipment that are necessary for these businesses to function were destroyed and now many beauty professionals can’t work. There are also lots of beauty school students who are trying to figure out how to finish their education. At The Studio Academy of Beauty, we instantly felt the need to help these victims recover. We wanted to be a part in aiding the Houston Beauty Industry in starting its recovery process.

CHI

We weren’t the only ones who felt this way; a ton of companies and organizations in the beauty industry jumped in immediately and started fundraising. At The Studio Academy of Beauty, we are partnered with CHI and use many of their products in our salon. When the CHI founder, Farouk Shami, announced that they were launching a Cut-a-Thon fundraiser, we were excited to be a part of it!

Cut-a-Thon

CHI launched a Cut-a-Thon for partner salons and schools, like TSAOB, to participate in. During the month of September, beauty schools from around all over the country participated and 100% of the donations went to helping beauty pros in Houston get a new start.

How It Helped Our Students

The main reason we wanted to be a part of the fundraiser was to help Harvey victims make it through this hard time. Another reason we were excited, as a beauty school, to partner up with CHI was because we knew our students could benefit and learn from serving others. Many of our students will continue to grow and may become leaders within the beauty industry once they graduate. When they lead or own companies, organizations, schools, and salons we want them to have a passion and desire to help others in the industry who are in need. There will be more opportunities like this in the future to serve and we want our students to understand the importance of stepping up to the plate and leading efforts to help.

Thank You!

Our students and clients were all a huge part of making the Cut-a-Thon a success. We had people come to our salons in Phoenix, Chandler, and Tolleson who wanted to contribute to the cause and be a part of helping Harvey victims rebuild. We are grateful for these people and the amazing outreach that we saw in each and every one of our salons from our clients. We are also grateful for the enthusiasm we saw in our students and their desire to help other beauty professionals. We are proud of our all-star students and the great work they did!

Continuing Support

The Cut-a-Thon was a great start to helping out, but there’s still a lot of work to do! If you want to help beauty professionals in Texas and Florida you can still donate to the cause through the Professional Beauty Association.
