Udaan Scholarship To Give Wings To The Underprivileged!

Educating the youth is the most important part of the development of a country. But the accessibility of education to everyone irrespective of their economic backgrounds can be challenging. It becomes important for the organizations from various sectors to do their bit for the social responsibility part and UDAAN is a scholarship program that has been launched by HP is one such initiative, that helps the underprivileged children to pursue their education. The UDAAN program apart from providing scholarship it also has a 50% reservation for the female students.

Education expenses have been facing a steep upward facing curve YOY and have reached 5.3% as per the latest reports from the Ministry of HRD. More and more merit students from the weaker economic background are opting out of higher educations due to the increased cost. HP UDAAN Scholarship Program is the answer for all the students that are looking for financial assistance to continue their education further.

The Udaan Scholarship would mainly help students that have completed their 10th and are dropping outpost class 10 and 12. Those students who have not been able to pursue graduation, diploma, ITI and other courses of arts, commerce and science streams can continue their education. The UDAAN scholarship will be based on the duration of the course and the students should meet the basic criteria of the scholarship and the students from across the nation that needs financial assistance can apply.

A student who cleared class 10th with a minimum of 60% will be eligible to receive a 1-year scholarship for a Diploma or ITI course. HP UDAAN scholarships applicants are required to have a family income that includes from all sources of a maximum of Rs. 4 lakhs. There will be a total number of 750 scholarships provided this year among which 275 of them will be provided with 20000 each for the 1 year scholarship, 250 of them will be provided with 20000 per year for each of them over the 2 year scholarship, and 225 of them will be provided with 30000 per year for each of them for a 3 year scholarship. The UDAAN scholarship does not cover the 4-year courses. The last date to apply for the scholarships would be before the 26th of February 2019.

Right to Education, Chunauti 2018 (for differently abled students), free textbooks for female students in the state of Jharkhand, Interest-free loans for IIT students under the ‘Vidyalakshmi’ scheme are some of the scholarships/initiatives by the Government of India that is active currently. The Scholarships program is a great way of supporting the youth of the nation to build a better, stronger and educated India. While the scholarships help the economically weaker section to pursue their educational dreams, there are also cases where some of the students that may not fall under this category also do tend to apply and win scholarships. This might hinder the more deserving students. There is a need to improve financial assistance/ scholarship programs to the female students as the possibility of them not continuing their education is much higher since female child literacy is still a challenge in the rural parts of India.
