Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh All Set To Become India’s Knowledge Capital

Under the dynamic administration and influence of N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the state is engaged in developing the right ecosystem for education. The ‘Knowledge City‘ at Amaravati would be built around Education, Research, as well as Development, Skill enhancement, and Start-Ups. Spread across 8,547 acres with an estimated population of 4.3 lacs, the Knowledge City is anticipated to generate employment for more than 1.7 lac people.

With plenty of innovative features being introduced into its design, Amaravati — Andhra Pradesh’s new capital, a state that was left with no capital once Telangana inherited Hyderabad three years back — holds a commitment of being a city like no other in India.

Revealing the significance of the forthcoming capital city of Amaravati, Resident Commissioner of the Andhra Pradesh government, Praveen Prakash, stated that Amaravati would become symbolic for sustainable as well as inclusive growth. Under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu (the Chief Minister), the Knowledge City is definite to become a world-class center. This would not only fulfill the aspirations of people but also motivate them. There is a big opportunity that prevails in the Knowledge City for setting up of schools, colleges as well as various universities, skill development centers, research centers, as well as start-up establishment centers.

Besides know-how and competence from Japan as well as Singapore, the Amaravati project is cushioned by $1 Billion in loan pledges from the World Bank as well as Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank, alongside another $2.3 billion from both states as well as federal government agencies.

Right from cloud-connected rapid transit systems to energy-efficient buildings that allow the free flow of natural air, let’s have a look at the innovative ideas on Amravati’s drawing board.

1.Swanky Aesthetics as well as State-of-The-Art Architecture

Amaravati promises to be an aesthetically attractive city with state-of-the-art architectural adornments. As per the plans of the city, Amaravati will have four distinguished gateways look-alike of the entrance of historic temples and it would also have city squares created on the lines of famous Trafalgar as well as the Duke of York squares.

2.  The Knowledge City
Amaravati’s Knowledge City will also be the core of all other theme cities. It will house eminent world-class educational institutes that provide quality education to lakhs of state leaners. With this outlook, educational institutions like SRM University, AIMS, National Institute of Design, Amity University, Amrita University, Centurion Institute of Tool Design, and National Institute of Fashion Technology have begun the construction of their campuses.

As a matter of fact, the VIT (i.e. Vellore Institute of Technology) has already constructed its campus and commenced teaching its first batch from July 2017.

3. The Business Hub: As per the plans, Amaravati will also get leading institutes of excellence (that are being built on a public-private partnership mode) very much similar to Hyderabad’s ISB (Indian School of Business). Spread across nearly 100 acres, will be set up at a cost of Rs 500 crore.

For this, there are plans to rope in the exclusive global academic world (like the University of Birmingham, London School of Economics, Harvard Kennedy School and National University of Singapore) and the leaders of the corporate world. are The proposed partners of this B-school dream are Bill & Melinda Gates Foundations, the World Bank as well as ADB.

This is just the start of Knowledge City– Amaravati, as the above features would not only help the ancient city to become a futuristic and world-class capital but would also aid it in becoming a template for India’s 100 smart cities project.
