CTET 2018 Exam Pattern 

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is going to conduct the Central Teachers Eligibility Test or CTET Exam on 16th September 2018. Aspirants need to first understand the CTET Exam Pattern to prepare for the CTET Exam. Therefore, we are providing here the complete CTET Exam Pattern for the aspirants. A complete understanding of the CTET Syllabus and CTET Exam Pattern will help the candidates to crack the exam. In this post, read about the number of sections, papers, total marks, time duration, marks distribution per sections etc in CTET Exam. Candidates to qualify the CTET Exam will have to secure 60% and above marks.

CTET Exam Pattern helps the candidates to get an overview of the structure of the final examination. CTET Exam will consist of two papers paper 1 and paper 2 comprising of Multiple choice questions (MCQ) of 1 mark each for every correct answer, There will be no Negative Marking in the exam.

CTET Exam Pattern: Paper 1 

Paper 1 will be for candidates who intend to be a teacher for class 1st to 5th (Primary). All questions will be Multiple choice questions(MCQ) of 1 mark each for every correct answer, there is no negative marking in CTET Exam.

  • The syllabus on Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning, relevant to the age group of 6-11 years.
  • Knowledge Related to the medium of instruction will of more focus in Language 1 test points.
  • The syllabus in Language II will focus on the knowledge of the language, communication and comprehension abilities.
  • The syllabus in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem-solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects.

CTET Exam Pattern: Paper 2 

Paper 2 will be for candidates who wants to be a teacher for class 6th to 8th(Elementary). All questions will be Multiple choice questions (MCQ) of 1 mark each for every correct answer, there is no negative marking in CTET Exam.

CTET Exam Pattern: Discussion


Mode of exam:

The mode of Examination will be the offline mode. The candidates are required to use black or blue ball point pen only. Borrowing in Examination hall is strictly Prohibited.

Time duration:

The candidate will have two and half hour time duration to complete the CTET paper. No extra time will be given to the candidates in any situation.

Marking scheme:

There will be no negative marking in the exam paper. But we advise candidates to read and answer every question very carefully.

Type of Exam:

The exam will be comprised of Objective type Multiple choice questions. Candidates have to fill the OMR sheet for the correct answer.

Central Board of Secondary Education conducts Central Teacher Eligibility Test or CTET for aspirants who wants to set their career in Teaching field for Central Government Schools. This Exam is all India level Entrance Examination conducted by CBSE. This test is conducted twice in a Year. Candidates are selected on the basis of written Test followed by Personal Interview.
