National Defense Academy ( NDA ) is the academy for pupils who want to serve the armed forces of India. This is the location where all the 3 wings of the armed forces, army, air force and navy practice before they go for their pre-commissioning training in their service academies.
Basic Process
The basic steps involved in getting into NDA is to first you have to be an unmarried male then provide a written examination, then SSB and then medicals. Eligibility
You get eligible for the exam at the age of 16.5 years and remain eligible till 19.5 years. You should have 12th Class of 10+2 System of Education/Equivalent for Army and with Physics and Math for AF/Navy. Stages of Examination
Written examination– the written exam carried out by the UPSC is divided into 2 parts. The initial part is math round of 300 marks which has questions of standard which you read in 11th and 12th standard. Going through the ideas thoroughly will be all you required. The 2nd part is the general ability test. This has a part of English of 200 marks and a part of General Knowledge of 400 marks.
Medical
When you are declared qualified by the SSB, you are then medically examined by the board of medical officers. However, if the applicant is declared to be unfit he will be intimated two times before he is disqualified. Once he is intimidated under appeal Medical Board and then under review medical board.
After all the 3 phases if you still make it to the merit list you become a part of the esteemed academy. You will then be trained for 3 years in the same academy.
