Introduction-Dr A P J Abdul Kalam was known as the Missile Man of India. Dr A P J Abdul Kalam was born on 15th October 1931 at Rameswaram m Tamil Nadu. He is also popularly known as the People’s President of India. His father's name was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He was a great scientist and 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.


Early Life and Education- Dr A P J Abdul Kalam was born in a poor Tamil family. He started supporting his family financially in his early age. He completed his graduation from St. Joseph’s College, T Tiruchirappalli in 1954 and Aerospace Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai in 1960. Dr Kalam contribution India’ s most important -works-After his graduation, he joined the DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) as a scientist. There he designed a small helicopter for the Indian Army. He also worked under a legendary space scientist, Vikram Sarabhai (father of India’s space programme) as part of INCOSPAR committee. Later, he joined the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)Dr. Kalam’Significant contributions as Project Director to develop India’s first indigenous Satellite * Launch Vehicle (SLV-Ill) which successfully injected the Rohini satellite 1n the near earth orbit 1n July 1980 and made India an exclusive member of space club. in 1969 as project director of India’s first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III). Because of his great contributions to the development of ballistic missiles in India, he will be forever known as the “Missile Man of India”. The successful Pokhran-II nuclear tests of 1998 . have also involved his important role.


His Achievements and Contributions- He has been the third President of India who was awarded the Bharat Rama (1997). He has also been awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1981 and Padma Vibhushan in 1990 for his contributions at ISRO and DRDO."He has written many books such as Wings of Fire, Ignited Minds, Turning Points, India 2020 etc. In order to beat the corruption in the country he launched a mission for youths named “What Can I Give Movement.”


Conclusion-Dr A P J Abdul Kalam was a great personality and inspiration to them. youngsters. He took his last breath at IIM, Meghalaya on 27th July in 2015 because of the sudden cardiac arrest. He is not present among us physically, however, his great works and contributions would be with us forever. He has

mentioned his dream of making India a developed country in his book “India 2020 A Vision for the New Millenium.
