Procedure to Become Chartered Accountant in India

If you are from commerce background and want to make your career in professional filed then CA is the best way to make your career. But sometimes many of the students ask this question like what is the process to become the Chartered Accountant after completing graduation? As we know to become a certified chartered accountant you have to follow the right steps and make sure you have to clear every step.

1.CA Foundation/Entrance Test / CA-CPT

2.CA Intermediate/ CA-IPCC

3.Articleship Training

4.CA Final

In India, the CA education is managed or conducted by ICAI, ICAI stands for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. They are maintaining the quality of CA course and training in India.

CA Foundation:

CA-CPT or CA foundation is an entry level test as like entrance test of other courses. This test includes 4 subjects with 200 marks i.e. Accounting, Mercantile Laws, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude and the test is an objective type with negative marking. The test is divided into the two sessions of two hours.

Session 1:

Subject 1: Fundamentals of accounting (60 marks)

Subject 2: Mercantile Laws (40 marks)

The time duration for this session is 2 hours with 100 marks.

Session 2:

Subject 1: General Economics

Subject 2: Quantitative Aptitude

The time duration for this session is 2 hours with 100 marks.

CA Intermediate/ CA-IPCC:

CA Intermediate will be the next level after passing the CA-CPT test.

The student can apply for this course only when he/she should have cleared CPT or he/she should be a Graduate with more than the minimum prescribed marks.

This test includes 7 subjects with 100 marks per subject and these 7 subjects divided into the 2 groups.

First Group:

Sub 1: Accounting

Sub 2: Business Law, Ethics, and Communication

Sub 3: Cost Accounting and Financial Management

Sub 4: Taxation

Second Group:

Sub 1: Advanced Accounting

Sub 2: Auditing and Assurance

Sub 3: Information Technology and Strategic Management

Articleship Training:

 In CA course after completing CA IPCC, the student should attend 3 years of articleship training under the guidance of successful chartered accountant. This training is the most important part for every student because in this period they are actually going through the complete practical session.

Articleship is the backbone of the CA course. A CA Student invests 3 to learn the practical aspect of the Chartered accountant

CA Final:

After completing both the groups of CA Intermediate you can register for CA Final. This is the level where you need expertise in each and every subject. The most difficult task for the student is to managing studies with office work.

There are total 8 subjects is include in CA final with 100 marks per subject and these subjects are divided into the 2 groups.
