Additionally, we have also updated our professional development services. Our current on-site professional development workshops are as follows:

Improving: Cultural Competence
Effectively Meeting the Needs of Diverse Families In Our Early Childhood/Elementary Schools- Many of today's young children are now being raised in homes by same-sex parents, grandparents, stepparents, and non-related adults. This workshop provides guidance to early childhood/elementary teachers and administrators for how to best create and maintain policies/procedures which are respectful to the needs of the diverse families that they serve.
What's Hiding In Your Classroom Libraries-The educational texts that we use in our classrooms communicate messages to our students. This workshop takes a critical look at the quality of the children's literature found in our classroom libraries and the unintended hidden messages that the inclusion and/or exclusion of particular text send to our students and their families.
The ABCs of Teaching Social Justice In Our Early Childhood/Elementary Classrooms- It is never too early to teach children about the importance of social justice. This workshop teaches educators simple and highly effective ways to teach and promote social justice in their classrooms.
Challenging Normalcy: Reframing the Language Regarding Disability- Discussions about disability are often framed within a context of tragedy and misfortune; whereby people with disabilities are characterized as pitiable individuals in need of fixing because they do not fit the accepted standard of what constitutes "normal."  This workshop will teach participants the importance of adopting practices in their schools and communities which challenge normalcy and reframe the language regarding disability. It will also provide them with strategies for how they can effectively create a more inclusive environment where both individuals with and without disabilities have the opportunity to thrive.

Improving: Instructional Practice
Looking Outside the Box: How Grants and Creative Partnerships Can Enhance Preschool Instruction-  Do you have a great instructional idea but struggle with how to fund and/or provide the labor to make your idea a reality? This workshop chronicles the evolution of one "great instructional idea" from the planning stages to its implementation and gives participants a roadmap for how to :1) formulate an action plan, 2) obtain funding, and 3) establish productive partnerships that will help them make their idea a reality.

Too Cool for School: Motivating Students Who Engage In Intellectual Downplaying Behavior- Have you ever encountered a student who acted too cool for school by playing down his/her intellectual ability? Chances are you were left wondering why she/he chose to engage in such behavior and struggled with how you could motivate him/her to ascend to his/her academic potential. Teachers who attend this workshop will walk away from this session with: 1) an understanding of intellectual downplaying,  2) knowledge of the factors contributing to intellectual downplaying behavior, and 3) strategies for how to effectively encourage students to embrace their true intellectual abilities.
High Yield Assessment Strategies for Student Success-The word "ASSESSMENT" often strikes fear in teachers and students. This workshop is designed to ease educators' fears about assessment and teach them how to implement high yield/minimal effort assessment strategies in their classrooms.
Improving: Resiliency & Wellness
Promoting and Sustaining Change- The ARC Method- Change is hard and is often resisted. This workshop is designed for early childhood administrators and teacher leaders who wish to promote and sustain change in their schools. The ARC Method provides educational change agents with a systematic approach for how to overcome resistance and achieve lasting change in their schools.

Boosting Teacher Resiliency and Managing Stress In Times of Change-Today's educators are under more stress than ever before. Prolonged stress can lead to burnout and decreased job performance. This workshop is designed to provide teachers with strategies for how to build their resiliency and manage their stress in times of change.
