In learning, it is expected that as a student, you have sufficient maturity and self-motivation to work on your own for longer periods, without a tutor to guide you. You are given a great deal and more responsibility for your own success.

This may be as if your study lacks structures. However, it can also feel very liberating, you have more freedom to study in ways that suit you, to use your initiative to source for information that matters. Students who over depend on tutors rather than taking advantage of the opportunity giving to them to learn lots of things on their own often experience poor academic performance.

The devotion of insufficient time to study
Students do not devote enough time to their academic work, this may be as a result of lack of interest or motivation on the part of the students. The amounts of time you devote to your study affect your academic performance directly. If you devote a little time to your study, you will reap little rewards and vice versa.

Procrastination about when to study
Students are easily put off by chapters that look difficult or by words they don’t know. They tend to postpone studying to another day or may even decide not to study at all. You may need to read some chapters several times but that is typical of advanced learning.

Inability to control imagination
Our imaginations are extremely powerful and affect everything we do. Our imagination can affect our activities positively or negatively depending on how we allow it. Just try not to think of something, such as whether you left the cooker on and you quickly discover how easy it is for your imaginations to see your home burnt to the ground. If you give your Imagination any lead, it will act on them. You can use this capacity of imagination in many ways to help your study.

Closed-Mindedness
This also affects study habit of listening and it happens more often outside the classroom than within and especially when we are arguing. We often refuse to listen to an opposing view when our minds are made up. We feel that we know all, so there’s no use in listening.

Actually, this is an intellectual fault rather than listening problems. Anytime we fail to listen with an open mind, we do ourselves, as well as the speaker a disservice. If our point of view is correct an opposing view arguments will only serve to reinforce and confirm the beliefs. If on the other hand, our position is wrong, refusing to listen will not make our position right. Close mindedness interferes with various classroom learning.

False Attention
This is a protective device for every student resorts from time to time. When we’re not really interested in what someone has to say, we pretend to listen. We nod our heads and make occasional meaningless comments in order to give the impression that we are paying attention when actually our minds are thousands of miles away from the classroom.

Intellectual Despair
Listening can be difficult for the student at times. In the higher institution, you have to sit through many lectures on subjects which are hard to understand. Expect it, that’s why you are in the higher institution of learning to acquire more knowledge on what you do not know before. Occasionally, you may feel the urge to give up, but no matter what hold on to your study.

Memorizing
Some students try to memorize every word spoken by their lecturer. These are likely to be students who are uptight and over anxious. In their desire to listen well, they commit a listening fault and some out remembering less.

Behaviors that affects students study habit are many but we can only mention the major ones. In conclusion, it is better for a student to be conscious and dedicate their times effectively towards their academic so as to achieve the best in life.
