Grammarly

Hi, everyone! Today I’m going to be reviewing the app, Grammarly. In my school, I’m forced to use it. In fact, I’m using it right now. It told me that I had to add “the” in front of “school,” to make “In my the school.” Obviously, I’m not going to be doing that. Disclaimer: this hasn’t been sponsored by Grammarly, I just decided to be reviewing Grammarly.

At first, when I started using Grammarly, I was delighted because I knew in school we wouldn’t need to proofread our writing so much when Grammarly checked it. However, my opinion of Grammarly soon changed…

Sure; Grammarly picks up spelling mistakes, and grammar mistakes when you have them (usually) but it also picks up things that are entirely correct. One of it’s favorite things to do is change your friend’s names, or make you add “the” everywhere. That’s when the handy ignoring tool comes in.

Let’s talk a little bit about Grammarly’s features. Grammarly puts a large bold red line under things it thinks are “wrong.” Grammarly keeps track of your mistakes and grades you. Weekly, then send you a “progress report.”

“OK,” you say, “it seems good to me. What’s wrong with it?” What’s the matter with it is everything. Grammarly picks up anything and everything. It doesn’t know most names and makes you do ridiculous things that the teachers think you did. When you edit with Grammarly, you have to ignore half a dozen things it’s telling you to do.

Grammarly would be an OK tool if it weren’t so grossly annoying. It doesn’t even let you say words twice in a paragraph without  clicking the ignore button because it sais “words repeated in the text.” It’s FAVORITE, and I mean favorite things to do are to make you remove all your commas and put them in berserk places, tells you that you can’t use the words “in school” (e.g.,) together because it’s a squinting modifier. (who cared honestly)

Now that I’m done ranting, please don’t try Grammarly because it will drive you crazy. Grammarly has something seriously wrong with it, and I DON’T know why schools bother paying for that.
