Rahul Niranjan Multi talented singer from BNMIT

Who doesn’t like a music? Every one of us loves to listen to Music because it heals the past and makes us strong. Though taste and styles of music vary from person to person, today we have someone who can sing any style of music and mesmerize with his amazing skills in music. Today we have Rahul Niranjan from BNMIT. Let’s have a chit-chat.

1. Hai Rahul, give us a brief introduction about you.

I’m Rahul Niranjan, currently pursuing my BE- 4th semester in CSE in BNMIT- Bangalore. Finished my schooling at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and PU at National PU College- Jayanagar- Bangalore.

2. When did you first started to learn music? What made you take this as a passion?

Being from a family with a musical background, I have been into music for quite some while now! My father, Dr. K Srinivas, was(is still) my first teacher!
It was in my 7th standard where I got my first break and got a chance to perform for a TV show that aired on Sri Sankara channel! Since then, my passion for music has seen a substantial rise compared to before. 50+ performances on stage have also been a huge factor in encouraging me to sing more.

3. Do you think one needs a good voice to sing?

More than a good voice, all you need is the will power that -“I too can sing!” and the perseverance that “I will strive towards achieving my goal!”.
So, to all you music enthusiasts out there, let me tell you – Even if you think that you have a bad voice, you can concentrate on music that suits your voice.
Singing is more about adaptability than skill!

4. We have seen your videos and your timeline and very much impressed by your voice and singing style, so have you been to any music classes?

Not any formal training as such, but being the son of a Carnatic Vocalist has been my secret, you may say. Singing along with and listening to dad has been training in itself!

5. Which style of music do you prefer most while singing?

Any singer loves to be versatile. I’ve tried and experimented most music types, and I felt I am most comfortable while singing Indian light classical (Carnatic base).

6. How do your parents feel about it?

My parents have encouraged me throughout all my musical endeavors! They are the sole reason why I have been able to acquire the little amount of musical knowledge that I have! As long as my music doesn’t interfere with my academics, there’s no problem at home!

7. Any plans of taking singing professionally?

Why not? Well, if there is an opportunity somewhere, I will surely try to make the most of it! BUT, only after I have a primary degree(In this case, after completion of my engineering). The music industry can sometimes be very harsh on you. Just in case you’re denied your dream, you can have a backup to lead a life! So my advice – have a backup.

8. We got to know that you are a good poet too, can we get some of the best of work of yours?

9. Any insights for guys who want to sing but have no idea about from where to begin?

Any time is a good time to begin! There is no better teacher than your own ears! Trust me, the more you listen, the more you learn!
But if you are very serious, I suggest learning the basics of music(preferably classical) so that you have a firm foundation on which you can build your own world of music!
