Camping in Indented Heads – January 2016

Our first Camping trip in Tallulah (yes, that’s what we’ve named our camper trailer), was our annual Christmas holiday to Indented Heads near Geelong. We have camped here for the past 3 years over the New Year period.

We set off fairly early as we had never set up the camper trailer before. We weren’t too worried as our friends that were camping with us have exactly the same camper trailer and annex as we do.

From arrival to sitting down with my first beer took almost four hours! I know this sounds like a long time, but we were 4 families camping together so we set up 2 camper trailers, 2 tents, 2 gazebos, 4 fridges, 2 trestle tables, 20 camp chairs, a camp kitchen and a boat!

We had a great holiday as usual except for the wind in the 2nd week. It was gusting up to 80km/h which would have ripped our old tent, but the new trailer and annex performed perfectly. We needed to put in some longer pegs than usual and the walls separated from the floor (the Velcro wasn’t strong enough to hold it together), but other than that, the whole set-up stood strong!

Pulling the whole thing down at the end of the holiday took about 3 hours despite the fact that we had much less to pack!

Some of the local attractions that we visited included the Geelong Adventure Park, Little Creatures Brewery, the Scandinavian Ice Cream Company in Queenscliffe, the Torquay Surf Shops and the Portarlington Mussel Festival.

Below are some photos of our holiday and a short video will follow.

PS: Yes, we have bought a new towing vehicle too – a Nissan X-Trail Ti Turbo Diesel 4×4
