What can you say that hasn’t already been said about the 2017 #GooseIslandBourbonCountyStout?

I have read the reviews. Most of them near perfect scores and in a few instances 100 out of 100, but that didn’t derer me from putting in my 2 cents.

Upon opening the Bottle, you immediately pick up on hints of bourbon and even a trace of dark liquorish with an almost ouzo-like flavor. As you pour, you notice the dark starless night color with hardly any foam.

You take your first sip and you can’t escape the gorgeous blend of vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, coffee and, of course, strong bourbon flavors. This continues with every sip and actually gets better (if you can believe that) the more it airs out. As you swirl each sip, the creamy richness of this Beer is brought out. When a beer is aged in bourbon barrels for 150 days post fermentation, you know it will be good. Well, IT IS!

Don’t get caught up in just how much you are enjoying this beer, because the 14.1% ABV will definitely sneak up on you fast……as it’s doing to me, as I write this If you are on a diet, stay away. Each bottle (a whopping one pint and 9 oz) carries with it a hefty 414 calories.

Although technically not a craft beer – as #Anheuser-Busch InBev shelled out a cool $38.8 million to buy all of #GooseIsland back in 2011 (a steel if you ask me) – we will let that slide this time. I hope you all enjoy this beer as much as I did. I give it a 4.8 out of 5.0 on the Viduch Scale.
