Afrodita Beard Care, not a divine option…

Tags: beard

You know that when you can find Beard care products next to shaving cream in a general store that it became mainstream. Which can be a good and a bad thing, good because you could find decent products with nice prices without having to take a train to the closest barber shop in Germany to have a decent selection of import product. But it can be bad as mass production comes often with lower quality.

And unfortunately the story today is a bad one as we review beard wax and beard conditioner from Afrodita. Indeed, my friends, the Beard Warrior was at first intrigued and pleased to find beard care options with some retro labelling at an affordable price, around 8€ (10 $) for each item.

For our North American and West European readers, I doubt you will ever come across this brand. Afrodita is a cosmetic company based in Slovenia, close to the Croatian border (exactly here if you are curious) and seems to distribute its products mainly toward eastern Europe.

The first thing that should worry you is the packaging. Althought it’s nice, simple and probably a free design package from the internet there was something truely disturbing about the wax packaging as displayed in the photo below:

The nice packaging is half empty! It’s a strange concept for the Beard Warrior, why use such deceptive technic, it’s not like we weren’t going to buy it if it was half the size of the box, it by itself a standard size for beard wax pot. People do strange things for money…

Pass this, the wax is pretty bland, no smell and a soft gelatinous texture where sometimes you’ll have the feeling you spreading duck fat in your beard. This being said it will still straighten beard hairs and keep them in the right place. We are giving the wax a beard score of 1/5:

Now the beard conditioner, this also a cheap product. And to be honest we weren’t expecting much of it and we were right. The balm as a very chemical smell and after a couple of day of trying we did not observe any effect on our beard. The tube is also cheap plastic and each time you open it you lose a fat drop balm. We did not like it and we will give this product our first 0/5 beard score!
