We asked for a great Red, and you, our members selected this one in a Blind Ballot Bar™ Event. We call it Betoverende, which in Dutch means “enchanting” and when you drink this luscious red you will see how enchanting it is.
Betoverende no. 1 is a blend of seven different wines; two Rhone and five Bordeaux. In order of appearance, Sangiovese, Petite Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. The wine has a magical garnet color coupled with beautiful legs. The enchanting scent makes the mouth water. Not even a hint of a bite with perfectly balanced flavors of absolute delight. This wine is one of the single best wines Craveyon CloudWines has had the thrill to bottle and share with our members.
Betoverende hails from Happy Valley, which is part of the Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara wine country. The best part of Happy Valley, aside from the slightly higher minerality of the soil and the higher temperatures of this micro-climate area, is the nomenclature of its name. "Happy Valley" got its name during the Prohibition era. An elementary type of moonshine was made in the area and patrons from nearby Los Angeles would take the short road trip up the California coast to "get happy." The name stuck with the locals, and Happy Valley grew up into a genuine appellation in 2009.
