March 2018 is sure to be a fun-filled month in the California Wine Country. There are many exciting events being planned for March. Make plans to attend.
While exploring the wine regions of California, stop and visit our Favorite California Wineries. Different wineries are favored for different reasons. Check out wineries with the best views, favorite wineries for picnics, and top winery restaurants.
Discover wineries that offer overnight lodging, have unique wine caves, and those that are kid friendly. Some wineries host exciting concerts. Others have annual grape stomps where you can actually stomp the grapes yourself.
What’s Happening – March 2018
March 2-3: World of Pinot Noir – Santa Barbara
More than 200 producers of Pinot Noir will gather in Santa Barbara to share and discuss their wines. World class chefs will pair these wines with locally prepared dishes. Enjoy two days of two days of in-depth Tasting seminars and excursions, grand gastings, and gourmet lunches and dinners.
March 2-4 and 9-11: Barrel Tasting – Sonoma County
Two exciting weekends of wine tasting will be happening this year. Sample wines from the barrel, talk to winemakers and explore the beautiful Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys.
Many wineries will offer “futures” on their barrel samples. This is a chance to purchase wine now, often at a discount, then come back to the winery when the wine is bottled, typically 12-18 months from now. Many wines are so limited, buying futures is your only chance to purchase them.
March 10- April 16: Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival
A variety of free seminars, demonstrations and presentations are being planned.
The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival will also feature ticketed events, such as premium dining events, wine tastings, and demonstrations by celebrity chefs.
March 9-10: Pechanga Chocolate Decadence & Wine Festival – Temecula
Sample a variety of chocolates. Experience wine from Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Temecula, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. Enjoy live music. Sip and savor as you sample a variety of distinguished dishes from the award-winning chefs of Pechanga Resort & Casino.
March 10: Riedel Education in the Vineyards – Hannah Nicole Winery Brentwood
Join Hannah Nicole Winery for an informative and interesting wine and glass experience, where we will explore the difference a glass can make. A Riedel representatative will personally guide you through this special tasting.
March 16-18: Vintage Paso Zinfandel Weekend – Paso Robles
Discover why Paso Robles is known for its world class Zinfandel. More than 140 wineries have special events planned. Visit wineries to sample their wine. Join in the fun at winemaker dinners, special tastings and seminars.
March 2-31: Spring Passport 2018 – Morgan Hill
Meet the talented winemakers of the Santa Clara Valley. More than 30 wineries will be pouring their wines throughout the month of March. Enjoy food and entertainment, special wine tastings, barrel samples and passport discounts.
March 17: Humboldt Wine Festival – Arcata, California
This annual event takes place at Humboldt State University in the Kate Buchanan Room. This is your chance to meet local wine and cider makers. Taste the wines and ciders of Humboldt and Trinity Counties while dining on a wide selection of locally sourced gourmet treats.
March 23-25: Palm Desert Food & Wine
Enjoy three days of culinary, wine, and beer tastings. A four-course luncheon prepared by celebrity chefs kicks off the weekend. This is followed by two days of grand tastings. Sample gourmet bites from local and regional restaurants, sip more than 60 premium wines, and savor some of the country’s most unique beers and ciders. Vintners and chefs will be available to discuss their culinary offerings.
March 10-11: Barrels, Tasting Weekend – Livermore
Join more than 30 Livermore Valley wineries, meet winemakers and sample wines still in development–right out of the barrel. A number of the wineries will be holding special brunches to help get you off on a good start each morning. As you visit the wineries throughout the valley, keep your eyes open for the hand painted one-of-a-kind barrels. If you find a unique barrel you like, purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win that barrel!
