Local Organizations take part in global World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ Event
Daytona Beach, June 21, 2018 – Today, tens of thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities around the world united for the ninth annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL) to raise awareness for swim safety. In Daytona Beach, Daytona Lagoon, Urban Surf and the Volusia Flagler Family Ymca teamed up to host the global event and bring critical swimming lessons to 50 underserviced kids in the local community.
The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA taught a free, 30-minute swim lesson to the kids, ages 5 to 15 in Daytona Lagoon’s wave pool. Urban Surf 4 Kids followed the swim lesson with an exciting surfing demonstration.
“Daytona Lagoon is honored to partner with the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA and Urban Surf 4 Kids to bring the World’s Largest Swim Lesson’s critical swim safety message to our local community,” said Tyler Currie, General Manager for Daytona Lagoon. “Drowning is a preventable tragedy and we must all work together to ensure every child and parent has access to lifesaving water safety resources.”
