Theres been some changes over the last couple of years by the current New Zealand Government about rules for New Zealanders that have Student Loans moving to Australia.

If you have a Student Loan in New Zealand and you are intending to move to Australia (or anywhere overseas in fact), you will need to do some research. The Government is clamping down hard on defaulters and non-payers and have even spoken about detaining defaulters at customs when they return to New Zealand.

I would thoroughly recommend that you do some homework if you are a holder of a Student Loan before you make the move to Australia…the best thing to do is start googling it and to contact the Inland Revenue Department in New Zealand.
