How to Plan The Perfect Father’s Day Celebration in London

This coming Sunday, June 18th, we come together to celebrate Father’s Day, a chance to give thanks to Dads the world over. Here at the Amsterdam Hotel in Kensington and Chelsea , we’re already looking forward to welcoming those guests who have booked with us to really spoil the men in the lives with a luxury day out in London.

Thinking of joining them this year? Looking for that extra special gift for your dad this Father’s Day? Need a few suggestions on how to make the most of your time in the capital?

Help is at hand.

Here, we offer our top tips on how to plan the perfect Father’s Day in London for your dad this June 18th.

Start With a Hearty Breakfast

You’ve got a busy day ahead of you, so why not check in with us the night before so that Dad can get a good night’s sleep before waking up feeling well-refreshed and ready to enjoy his day to the fullest.

With so much to do, you won’t want to leave on an empty stomach, so ensure you both enjoy your delicious free breakfast, compliments of the Amsterdam Hotel.

Feeling full and ready to go? It’s time to head out and enjoy London.

Take Him on a Once-in-a-Lifetime Sports Stadium Tour

If you’ve got a football mad dad in your family, you don’t have to go far to treat him to the ultimate Father’s Day gift: A tour around one of England’s most iconic Stadiums.

For the Blues fan in your life, Stamford Bridge is mere minutes from our Kensington and Chelsea hotel, and offers regular tours from Monday to Sunday, including Father’s Day on June 18th.

If Dad supports a different team altogether, you certainly can’t go wrong with a guided tour of Wembley Stadium, one of the world’s most famous stadiums, and the home of English Football.

For fans of other sports, tours of Lord’s Cricket Ground, London Stadium, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and Wimbledon are also available, along with the chance to go behind-the-scenes of other top London clubs like Arsenal and Fulham.

Give Him the Gift of Art, Culture, or History

If Dad prefers something a little more refined than the high-octane world of professional sports, don’t worry, London still offers more than enough to make it a memorable day for him.

Consider a visit to the Natural History Museum or The Science Museum, both within close proximity of the Amsterdam Hotel on Earls Court Road.

Alternatively, why not book on one of London’s renowned walking tours, where Dad will love hearing fascinating tales about London’s past that he just wouldn’t hear anywhere else.

Indulge Him With a One-of-a-Kind Lunch

Foodie Father? Head to the Taste of London Festival for Lunch

The festival starts in Regent’s Park a few days before on June 18th and culminates on Father’s day itself. Once there, you’ll mouthwatering array of delightful dishes, tantalising presentations, and even hands-on workshops to enjoy, all with something to suit literally every taste.

For something completely different, why not book on the whiskey tasting masterclass, or even treat Dad to the unique experience of cheese making?

Given the popularity of the Taste of London festival, booking early is advisable.

Tickets and details are available online at: https://london.tastefestivals.com

Treat Him to a Brand New Outfit

Want to give your Dad something he can take away with him besides a day of magical memories he’ll cherish forever? A brand new outfit from some of London’s finest stores could be just the thing.

One of the best things about the location of our hotel in Kensington and Chelsea is that we’re only a stone’s throw away from the world renowned department store Harrods, as well as the plethora of iconic retailers on Kensington High Street.

Alternatively, you could take a short tube ride from Earls Court Station to Oxford Street, where more famous department stores and a host of boutique outfitters await.

Dinner and a show

All dressed up with no place to go? You won’t be for long if you’re following our plan for the perfect Father’s Day in London.

After a wonderful dinner at a top restaurant, round off Dad’s special day by taking in a concert, show, or one of his favourite musicals.

A major highlight of London’s Father’s Day entertainment sees Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performing the music from classic movies  The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, The Man With the Golden Arm, and more.

That takes place at the Royal Albert Hall, just a few minutes away from our hotel on Earls Court Road.

Elsewhere, the mighty Stone Roses play Wembley Arena the night before on Saturday, June 17th, and all the usual hit shows take place right across the West End.

A Perfect Night’s Sleep

After a long, exciting day , there’s little doubt that he’ll be well worn out and ready for a good night’s rest.

That’s when it’s time to head back here to us, where our generously spacious rooms, lavishly comfortable beds and luxurious bathroom suites offer everything he could need to rest, relax, and reflect on what a wonderful Father’s Day gift he’s been given.

Celebrate Father’s Day in London with the Amsterdam Hotel. Spaces are limited for June 18th, 2017, so book online early to avoid disappointment. Alternatively, call our team now on 020 7370 5084.
