For most people travel is not just about visiting buildings, monuments, art galleries and museums. They also like to meet new people and learn about different cultures. Travelers who do that are able to create really special memories. It helps them to grow as a person and discover new passions.

If you are that type of person, you just need to read on to find out how to experience the fascinating culture of Vienna. As you will discover, it is a beautiful city which is home to an eclectic mix of residents.

The wonderful world of opera

Treating yourselves to some Vienna Opera Tickets is a great way to pass an evening. The city is home to several Opera Companies. In Vienna, you can experience all kinds of performances. Everything from operettas to contemporary and traditional opera is available. The city’s opera companies like to mix things up a bit.

If you are new to the art form you might prefer to experience a concert dinner. You get to dine in beautiful surroundings and listen to arias from many of the world’s most popular operas while you eat.

Tour the city with a local

Taking a guided tour is a great way to ensure you see the main sights. It is a good idea to take one on your first day. This will help you to get your bearings and pick out places you would like to see more of.

Vienna’s residents are very proud of their city, so it is not hard to find one willing to take you for a private tour. There are plenty of themed tours for you to enjoy, including, music, food, museum, art, historical, wine and walking tours. . Most guides will ask you what you are interested in and adapt the tour to fit in with your tastes.

It is also easy to take a day trip to Salzburg, Bratislava, Prague, Budapest and several other destinations. The Danube Valley is nearby too.

Visit the Naschmarkt

Despite being a popular destination for visitors, this market is still very Viennese. It has not been taken over by stalls selling souvenirs. It is a working market that local residents use. If you are staying in an apartment, this is a great place to pick up ready-prepared meals as well as fresh produce.

Spend some time in the beautiful parks

Around 50% of the city is given over to parks and other green space. You could spend months in Vienna and still not have enough time to explore them all. Each green space has its own vibe and activities.

The Sigmund-Freud-Park is small, but because it is a stop on 9 different transport routes it is never quiet. Very lively, so it is an especially good place for people watching.

If quiet is what you are after, try Augarten. During the weekend it is a popular place for locals to stroll and enjoy the beautiful trees and plants. At other times this park hosts concerts, movie screenings and other events.

The above suggestions are just a taste of what the city has to offer. Before you go it is worth spending a little time researching the area around your accommodation. Doing so will help you to get so much more out of your trip.
