Beaver Creek is known for 3:00 pm cookie time, gold medal grooming, and the “Ivy League” of Ski Schools.
With dedicated children’s and learning ski areas like the Haymeadow and Red Buffalo Park, Beaver Creek makes learning to ski easier for all ages.
A long-time ski instructor told me that what makes learning to ski in Beaver Creek is the access that beginners have to the entire mountain. From top to bottom, there is great snow and features to entice all levels. It excites new skiers to be able to take the gondola to the Cinch Express Chair and ski at the very top of the mountain, “they get the full mountain experience, even as beginners.” She says the addition of Red Buffalo Park and the new Red Buffalo Express, formerly the Drink of Water Chair, makes learning fun and engaging.
Red Buffalo Park
This year, Beaver Creek reimagined the beginner area a the top of the mountain. The 200-acre family learning area is at 11,440 feet with access to 13 beginner ski runs.
Part of the improvements includes the upgraded 4-person chairlift, Red Buffalo Express Lift. The new chairlift reduces ride time by 50%, from 8.6 minutes to 4.3 minutes.
To enhance the family experience, ski patroller, JW, created his famous snow sculptures around the trails. The sculptures are all based on animals in Colorado including a bunny, a fox, a beaver, and an owl.
Everyone knows that the most important ingredients for learning to ski are hot cocoa and cookies, new this year is the Cookie Cabin. Only available for Ski School participants, the Cookie Cabin is the perfect place to warm up and re-energize for a run down Jack Rabbit Alley!
