Golmaal Again vs Secret Superstar

This week, two strikingly different movies hit the theaters, namely Golmaal Again and Secret Superstar. The public of Jaipur must be confused which one to watch. On one hand, there is fourth installment of a successful franchise “Golmaal” and on the other hand, there is “Secret Superstar,” an emotional film about aspirations and dreams. Here is a review of these two latest films that are showering the box office with tremendous collection.

GOLMAAL AGAIN

A horror comedy film that justifies its genre very well. Director Rohit Shetty is back to recreate the joyous journey of hilarious characters from Golmaal series. The big responsibility of making the audiences like the fourth edition of the successful Golmaal has not gone in vain. The story revolves around five orphans (Gopal, Laxman 1, Laxman 2, Madhav, and Lucky ) who visit the Terahvin (funeral ceremony) of their orphanage’s owner Jamnadas and find themselves caught in the web of ghostly experiences. The movie will not disappoint you as far the humor aspect is concerned. Rohit Shetty and Team, from main protagonists to the supporting characters of Vasooli and Pappi bhai, has not failed in reviving the magic that the earlier parts had created. The wacky characters surrounded by eerie happenings will leave you rolling on the floor laughing.

Highlighting factors

The most surprising element of the film is when Lucky (Tushar Kapoor) starts uttering the voice of Nana Patekar as seen in the trailer. There are other hysterical elements like Johnny Lever’s unprecedented comic timing as Pappi, Kunal Kemmu’s slapstick comedy and the way Shreyas Talpade lisps and pampers Gopal when he is scared. Actor Prakash Raj and Neil Nitin Mukesh have stood out in their villainous avatars in the film. The show stealers were the one liners in the film that will make you jump off your seat.

The only aspect which is a little disappointing is the importance given to the character of Khushi, played by Parineeti Chopra. In the first half, there is not much for Parneeti to deliver, but her character shines out in the second half when she gets all the limelight that she deserved. Tabu, playing a librarian in the orphanage, has done justice to her role. Since the film is a Diwali release, so people are looking for loads of laughter and thus, the film is grossing high collections and has entered in the 100 crore club.

SECRET SUPERSTAR

Secret Superstar is a saga of a talented young girl named Insiya who loves singing and how she struggles to pursue her passion against all odds. In the process of leading her dreams under anonymity, she meets a quirky stranger named Shakti Kumarr (Amir Khan) who was a superstar once upon a time and to know the rest you will have to watch the film in theaters. The story unveils the hardships of the girl in dealing with her conservative father and other obstacles that come on her way. The film has depicted the journey of an ambitious girl and the unbreakable bond of a mother and daughter.

Despite competing with a grand multi-starrer film Golmaal Again, Secret Superstar has managed to garner good box office collection. Moreover, the latter has received positive reviews from critiques.

Highlighting factor

Most of the public is drawn to the theaters because of Aamir’s extended cameo. The colorful and eccentric look of Mr. Perfectionist is sure to blow you away. It seems like the weird flirtatious character of “Shakti Kumarr” is definitely one of the vivid transformations of Amir Khan. The exceptionally talented director Advait Chandan, superstar Amir Khan and the budding acting talent Zaira Wasim have succeeded in making an extremely touching film.

What are you looking for

A paisa vasool entertainer or a riveting meaningful story? Both the films have their own type and core understanding. Now, Jaipur audiences have to decide what they wish to pick. If you are a Golmaal series fan, then you just can’t miss another roller coaster of laughter. Or if you are a fan of Amir Khan or have a liking for such emotional movies with a message, then Secret Superstar is just meant for you. So guys, just pick the genre that suits your taste!
