Showing you how to make a custom GoPro Diy Egg Timer time lapse rotator. Time lapse photography with GoPro camera’s are easy. So is this GoPro DIY project. GoPro users can add flair to video’s with this an amazing effect for less than $8. Adding a turning or rotating effect to time lapses will spice up an opening to any video. With video’s and films story telling is paramount. Time lapse is an easy an effective way to open or set a scene. This GoPro DIY egg timer build is very similar to a CamaLapse ($29.99) rotator. All that is required is a super cheap $2 kitchen timer from Walmart. Finally to enable tripod mounting add a 1/4-20 female thread to the bottom. This is not needed, but will only cost an additional $5 to buy a tap from Home Depot or any hardware store.

What is needed:

  • Flat top and bottom kitchen egg timer (I got this one from Walmart but IKEA also has a great one of these.)
  • GoPro adhesive mount (does not need to still have adhesive on it. I reuse these all the time removing old sticky from the back. These can then be glued onto different mounting locations.)
  • 1/4″-20 tap (This is only needed if you want to mount the GoPro DIY egg timer to a tripod. These can be purchased at Home Depot or any hardware store.)
  1. First take your timer and stick adhesive mount on the top.
  2. On the bottom of the Walmart version there is a hole already in it. This is what gets tapped or threaded with the 1/4″-20 tap (you do not need to drill it out.)
  3. Take the tap and tap the hole allowing attachment to any 1/4″-20 style tripod mount.
  4. Go capture some time lapses.

Also there all kinds of different timer that can be made into time lapse timers leave a comment bellow with your favorite and why.
