With summer coming to an end in my part of the world, the Autumn is setting in with it’s lovely colors, falling leaves and colder temperatures. This is the time to pick up your camera and start shooting amazing images of the fall landscape. We’re always in need of more free Autumn Stock Photos, so why not share them with the Stockvault community.
Autumn is a beautiful season and marks the transition from summer to winter. In the Northern Hemisphere autumn starts in September but in the Southern Hemisphere it starts in March. With shortening daylight and lower temperatures most trees start shedding their leaves. It’s the season of leaf peeping, also called foliage tour, where people travel to view and photograph the fall foliage in areas where leaves change colors in autumn.
During a few weeks in the autumn season the leaves, mostly green ones, take on various autumn colors. The distinctive colors of fall are shades of orange, red, yellow, purple, black and brown. This is commonly referred to as autumn colours or autumn foliage in British English and fall colors, fall foliage or simply foliage in American English.
