The Best Musical Comedy - Funny Girl

Funny Girl is a highly acclaimed semi-biographical Musical based on the life and career of Broadway star, film actress and comedian Fanny Brice. The musical classic unfolds the bitter-sweet story of Fanny Brice’s relationship with gambler and entrepreneur Nicky Arnstein.  The musical revolves around Fanny, whose talented voice and ability to perform comedy, rather than her looks, saw her rise from a Brooklyn music hall Ziegfeld singer to Broadway superstar.

The musical is based on a book written by Isobel Lennart, music is lent by Jule Styne and lyrics by Bob Merrill. It features Jule Styne's classic hit songs in film and theatre history including “People”, "You Are Woman, I Am Man" and “Don’t Rain On My Parade”. No wonder, the original production was nominated for eight Tony Awards and and the cast recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2004. The musical was adapted as a film in 1968 with the original star Barbra Streisand who won the Oscar award for Best Actress as well as the Golden Globe.

In London, after a record-breaking sold-out run at Menier Chocolate Factory in 2015, the musical returned to the West End at Savoy Theatre, marking 50 years since Funny Girl’s London premiere. There are many ways to buy cheap tickets for Funny Girl musical. Buying tickets online from Box Office Theatre is the easiest way to book affordable tickets comfortably and at the same time choose your favourite seats.

In the West End production, Fanny Brice is played by Sheridan Smith and she does full justice to the role. She has given extraordinary performance and draws cheers, tears, claps and laughs from the audience. Sheridan Smith is one of the biggest names in the West End and she is now set for a national UK tour of the hit musical Funny Girl, for which she has won a lot of acclaim.  Michael Mayer's production focuses on Smith’s role as Fanny but at the same time integrates the role of her husband Nicky, as well as her mother and neighbours.
It is seldom that you find a musical that has a mix of comedy, drama and iconic songs.
Funny Girl has witnessed a phenomenal public demand in London’s West End and is a fascinating musical performance committed to comedy. If you haven’t booked Funny Girl Tickets, it’s time to do it now!
