Kid-Friendly Watermelon Lemonade

Summer entertaining just got more refreshing for the family with this Kid-Friendly Watermelon Lemonade recipe in less than 15 minutes. For the adults-only crowd, turn this into a vodka-based cocktail that everyone will love!

With temperatures soaring above the 100s here in Little Rock, Arkansas, I’m finding colorful and creative ways to stay cool. I’ve completely stopped using the oven and the stove and rely on as little heat as possible. That includes drinking my meals – so I found myself with two giant watermelons to use in smoothies, salads, and drinks. You can thank the two-for-one Watermelon sale at the market for this recipe!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – vibrant, red drinks just taste better. This Watermelon Lemonade is the epitome of summer (just look at it), and I think you’ll all appreciate how easy this recipe is! Even your kids can help. I will say that the key to this recipe is definitely the use of fresh lemons (none of that bottled concentrate stuff). It’ll make a huge difference in the flavor!

Not being the biggest watermelon fan, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of this Lemonade – watermelon and lemon aren’t often seen together, but they’re naturally juicy and the perfect pair. The neutral, watery flavor of watermelon complements the tartness of fresh lemons and instantly cools you down!

The addition of mint may not be something that the kids love, but for us adults, muddle in some mint for even more of a refreshing flavor. Another quick tip, if you’re the kind of person (unlike me) who takes their time to savor their drink, shake the lemonade with ice instead of dropping ice cubes into it. Melting ice cubes dilute the beautifully-concentrated flavor of this lemonade recipe!
