Cherry Limeade Cocktail

Cherry Limeade Cocktail Recipe made with Moonshine Cherries and a squeeze of fresh lime.

Last Thanksgiving we went to Gatlinburg Tennessee. I thought it was going to be dead and we would have the mountain town to ourselves. I was wrong! Clearly I wasn’t the only person who thought of a destination Thanksgiving vacation in the mountains. The place was packed. Traffic was insane. Worth it? Yes! Why am I talking about my Thanksgiving in Tennessee? Well, Moonshine!

One of the places on the list to visit was the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery. We did the free tasting of around 12 moonshine/whiskies. And this tasting isn’t like wine tasting. It is shoot and go. There is no water to rinse. It is like speed tasting. I guess they need to move the tourists in and out as fast as they can so they don’t get backed up. It was super fun.  One thing that wasn’t on the tasting menu but was sitting on the shelf in the back was these Moonshine Cherries. I had to have a bottle. This was my little souvenir.

After returning back to Southern Illinois I ran into my liquor store and there were the Moonshine Cherries. A couple of months later I found them again in another liquor store. The point is, you can probably find these cherries in your local liquor store too.

Two Things to Remember when making this cocktail.

  1. Muddle the cherries. This releases more moonshine and more cherry juice.
  2. Don’t forget to squeeze half a lime over the top before serving. It takes the cocktail from Oh Yum to OMGa that is good!

Where to Buy Moonshine Cherries

No trip to Tennessee needed! On the Ole Smoky  website they have a product locator. Just put in your zip code.
