I saw a video on a friend's FB page. The video trashed people who, like me, sometimes complain that the GOP is too often racist. Especially its Tea-bag wing. My friend didn't make the clip, he just supported it. So I said to myself, "If he might think this way, then the wingnuts are truly over the edge." I realise that people (including myself) sometimes do throw the baby out with the bath water. The GOP used to be a normal Party, sometimes a noble one, but it hasn't been so in quite a while. It is the party of Abraham Lincoln, after all. Of McKinley, Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower, and a few other good presidents. But today it is the party of

• Ronald Reagan ("Trees cause more pollution than automobiles."),
• George Bush the father ("I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.")
• Dan Quayle ("It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."),
• George Bush the son (Wiped his hand on Clinton's shirt after shaking a Haitian's hand: Here's the video),
• Dick Cheney, as well as folks such as
• John McCain (McCain as a young congressman in 1983 voted against a federal holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.)
• Sarah Palin ("But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies."),
• Mitt Romney ("I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there."),
• Michelle Bachmann ("...the Lord says, 'Be submissive wives; you are to be submissive to your husbands."),
• Christine O’Donnell ("One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it. I mean, there's little blood there and stuff like that. …We went to a movie and then had a midnight picnic on a satanic altar."),
• Rick Perry ("I don't think the federal government has a role in your children's education." –Rick Perry, at a campaign stop in Iowa, August 15, 2011), 
• Newt Gingrich ("Go get a job after you take a bath." —Newt Gingrich, speaking in November 2011 about Occupy Wall Street protesters),

• Rush Limbaugh (To an African-American female caller: "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back."),
• Bill O'Reilly (During an interview for Stuff magazine (November 2002), O'Reilly opined that "the most unattractive women in the world are probably in the Muslim countries."),
• Sean Hannity (Hannity defended Don Imus for calling the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy headed hos," typically by changing the subject and lodging verbal attacks against black men such as Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.)
• Loy Mauch ("If slavery were so God-awful, why didn't Jesus or Paul condemn it, why was it in the Constitution and why wasn't there a war before 1861?"),

The list goes on. I dare anyone to come up with what Democrats have said that is as wacky, or almost as wacky. Or just wacky. Tell me something that Democrats or humanists said about the GOP's racism, that was actually not racist, something that was "playing the race card", or that was against humanity or a part of it. Is it any wonder that people complain about racism and idiocy in the GOP and the Tea-bag movement? All the elements are combined: racism, anti-gay feelings, religious extremism, xenophobia, you name it. I bet I am forgetting a handful (Please put a link in the comments section if you think of something I have forgotten, something that either the GOP side or the Dem side has said, that belongs to the list in this post).
