Wundor Short Fiction Contest 2018 - LAST CHANCE

Novellas, Short Stories and Flash Fiction

At Wundor we plan to champion interesting, unusual fiction in all of its forms. Brevity can be one of literature’s great virtues, and we do not believe in filling out short stories into novella form if they are supposed to be short stories, or lengthening a novella to try to make a novel, when the story suits the novella form just fine.

Whether it takes you one page to tell your story or your manuscript is a little thicker, we would like to read it. The only stipulation is that the word count of your submission should be no greater than 45,000 words.

The deadline is 31 May 2018 and winners will be announced by the end of June 2018.

We very much look forward to hearing from you.

Contest Details

The winner of our second short fiction contest will receive £500.

The winner and two runners up will have an extract of their work published on the Wundor website. Their work will be strongly considered for publication in print, in which case a publishing contract will be offered.

Last year's winner, Bopper's Progress by John Manderino, was published by Wundor Editions in the UK, US and Canada in March 2018.

The prize is open to anybody writing in English who is 16 years of age or older.

Entrance fee is £10 per entry. There is no limit to the number of entries per writer.

The competition is open to novellas, short stories or pieces of flash fiction.

The word count of your submission should be no greater than 45,000 words.

Contest Rules

Manuscripts must be double-spaced and saved in font sizes 12-14.

Entries must be entirely your own work.

You must own the copyright to your work. You will retain the copyright to your work.

Online submissions only. All submissions are to be made through our Submittable portal.

Winning entries may be edited to prepare them for publication.

Any entries found to be in violation of submission rules will be disqualified.

Entrance fees will not be refunded.
