Revolution Poesy

I just rolled out a new project. (Don’t you hate that word! It makes me think of pampered Hollywood actors. “My next project will be…”.) Maybe, it’s more a labor of love, too. But, then, I’ve got a part to play, too.

I can’t seem to write short poems. This is probably because I’m addicted to narrative–and verbose blocks of language. Like I’ve said before, I’m not going to be the William Gaddis of this generation because I don’t have the talent to write long, metafictional tomes with thousands of characters and subplots and revolving points of view. I also don’t have the will or desire to do it. That’s because I love music. Prose is not music, but verse is, and I’m obsessed with music. You do the math (more pop culture phraseology I detest).

Anyway, my new site is dedicated to folks who want to send their long poems to my long poem library. I’m working on my own long poem. One of the motivations is that I’m sick of the paint-by-numbers poetry coming out of MFA programs; maybe, there are some rebellious poets out there who don’t blindly follow the poetical poobahs in the Ivory Tower.
