Current Reads, June 2017

May into June is always a busy time in a teacher's schedule, but I'm trying to make sure I still read a little each day. Commuting 90-plus minutes each workday and my no-screens-at-bedtime rule helps to make tearing through books a lot easier! Here are the five I'm working on just now - these are the books I'm on, or just about to start.

I love Nia Vardalos, so when I spotted Instant Mom the other day I had to pick up a copy. Like Nia it's funny, clever and kind, and I'm loving it!

I got this proof from the lovely Steph at Ebury a few months back, but ever being a wuss it took me a while to pluck up the courage to dive in. Final Girls is creepy, atmospheric and a real page turner; I'm looking forward to finishing it in a day or two!

Next on my list is Modern Romance, by Aziz Ansari. This is one of those books I picked up ages ago and shelved and kind of forgot about. I'm looking forward to diving in soon. If it's half as intelligent and entertaining as Ansari himself, it's bound to be a treat.

This election cycle, and the Brexit referendum before it, have churned up a lot of feelings and thoughts about class, nationally, locally and personally. Lynsey Hanley's book looks like a great examination of the subject, so I'm very much looking forward to it.

I love Sali Hughes' writing online and loved Pretty Honest, her first book, but  I hadn't got around to reading Pretty Iconic. This was an error on my part, as it's a great little read. I'm loving learning more about all the brands and products involved, and Hughes prose is as involving and enjoyable as ever.

All books can be found in good bookshops everywhere, or on amazon (affiliate links below for those that would let me- thanks in advance if you choose to click, I appreciate the support!):
